Some of you may know that I work at an art center for artists with
disabilities. Our mission is to "create art and challenge society's view
of disability". I really dig my job, and I'd love to share our work with
you.

In a not-so-distant future, the availability of genetic modification has
divided the nation. While President Eugene M. Bryo outlaws disability and
steers a genetically optimized majority towards greater perfection, those
who embrace their flawed DNA form an underground faction and broadcast
their message of raucous, radical acceptance over pirate radio station
KDIS. This genetically modified musical is a futuristic fairy tale full of
science, heart, and art.
Here is what City Pages has to say about our work:
Future Perfect : A Genetically Modified Musical
Recent shows at the Interact Center could best be described as
"meditative"—not in the sense of being placid, but in imparting a feel for
the connection between each individual human and to the collective whole.
With casts and creators that combine disabled and non-disabled performers,
this work is full of acute and often steely insight, staunchly unwilling to
make easy conclusions or go for cheap emotions. Future Perfect depicts an
America in which genetic modification is readily available and the
president has outlawed disability. Outlaws form an underground embracing
human imperfection, getting out the word over pirate radio station KDIS.
Each week a different performer plays the station DJ; this weekend, it's A
Prairie Home Companion's Sue Scott . $12-$15. Call 651.209.6689 for tickets
and showtimes. —Quinton Skinner
