...howzabout a nationally syndicated radio show that would spread the word that DERBY IS BACK??...

...here's the bit. There's a new syndication network called Nova M. Some of you have heard of it already because they're the ones that picked up Mike Malloy's show after he was so dishonestly dumped from Air America Radio. They have Malloy back on now in Phoenix (where they own KPHX-AM 1480), Little Rock (where they own KDXE-AM 1380), San Francisco (KQKE-AM 960), Sacramento (KSAC-AM 1240) and Seattle (KPTK-AM 1090) as well as Sirius Left (Channel 146 on the Sirius Satellite Radio system across the U.S.) Lu Cifer on the LeftWingRadicals Yahoogroup list just let me know that they have a portion of their website at http://www.novamradio.com/Net_Contact.php?Nav=9 on which they state:

"Have you got a show you think should be on our network? Maybe you know of a host we should know about? Send that over to our talent scouts over at < programming@... >."

Of course, Lu, being in South Florida, sent them a plug for Neil Rogers, the Miami-based talk legend that has held down the midday slot on WQAM 560 for more years than some Derby skaters have even been alive. Fair enough...

...what I want to do is a late-night show -- Midnight to 2:00 or 3:00 Eastern Time, 9:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. or Midnight Pacific Time. And one of the things I want to do on the show would be keeping the audience up to date on everything happening in the world of Modern Day Derby, both flat track and banked track. I did what I could in the last year on my old show on WLSU in La Crosse, but the nearest leagues to La Crosse are Minneapolis-St. Paul (Minnesota RollerGirls), Madison (Mad Rollin' Dolls) and Milwaukee (Brew City Bruisers), all outside the signal range and each a hefty drive from town. A nightly national radio show that plugs the hell out of Derby would be a whole lot better than tossaway human interest stories on local TV or in the Daily Birdcage Liner, wouldn't it?...

...as for my own qualifications, I've been involved in broadcasting in one form or another since I was 9 years old. Anybody who wants to see my resume can email me off-list and I'll send it out in Microsoft Word format. There's RealAudio of me doing a rock 'n roll oldies show in 2001 at http://rockradioscrapbook.ca/mackenzie2.ram and you can download one of my better "Echoes of a Century" historical programs at http://www.radio4all.net/proginfo.php?id=11574 (click through on the "Download" link at the bottom, then save the target on the next page to your hard drive)...

...Mike Thomas and Mike Newcomb, the heads of the Nova M network and the local owned-and-operated station in Phoenix, can be called at 602-257-1351 during regular business hours Arizona time. Would love it if some AZRD and TRD gals could give the Mikes a holler on Monday or Tuesday towards that end. If you have flat-rate long distance elsewhere in the States and Canada, that'd be great too. And the email addy upmessage is useable if you can read this. Let's get this thing up and rolling!...
