Another notable player from Mountain Lake, Henry Epp, center on the 1939
State Championship team, passed away in New Ulm on August 18 at the age of
83. He served in World War II as a Navy pilot aboard the USS Nehenta Bay in
the Pacific Theatre. After the war, he continued his basketball career at
Mankato State College where he played guard and was the only NAIA
All-American from Mankato State. He coached four years at Tracy before
moving to New Ulm where he taught and coached junior high basketball for 30
years.
