The Lakers have now won 9 titles since moving to L. A., right? And now, even on
NBA.com, they're saying that this title is their 15th overall, which means six
were in Minneapolis. That means that apparently the NBA is recognizing the
1947-48 National Basketball League title. For years, I've always seen
references to the five NBA titles the Lakers won in Minneapolis (with one of
them actually a Basketball Association of America title, but the NBA counts the
BAA records and titles).
If they're finally recognizing all of the titles the Lakers have won, that's
great.

Well, as Stew knows, there¹s still one more world championship that the Minneapolis Lakers won that they¹re not counting, right? Marc ... Re: [mnbuckets]...
Since I usually see the NBA refer to them as NBA titles rather than world championships, I would not get too bothered by this. I don't see the Pacers or Nets...

... The ABA was inferior to the NBA. The National Basketball League was probably stronger than the Basketball Association of America (BAA) in 1947-48. Not...
I believe there is a new history of the NBL just published but I am going to have to look up a citation. As to the World Championship Tournament, I¹m just...
Not probably, definitely stronger. The NBL had been around for maybe 20-25 years and was clearly the best pro league in America through most if not all of that...

At the beginning, yes. But definitely not the last 4-5 years. ABA teams often beat NBA teams in exhibitions. In fact, in the ABA’s final preseason, the...

The problem with the NBL (for the NBA) is that the NBL has a long and storied history‹25 years or so. It¹s one thing for the NBA to append a season or two...
Well, along with the NBL title, there¹s the championship of the world tournament the same year as the NBL title in 1948. They beat the New York Rens 75-71. So...
Marc, where can we find out information on the championship of the world tournament? I for one have never heard of it. Who in the hell were the New York...

Maybe not, but Gasol was easily the best player on a Memphis team that won more games in 2006 than Kobe's Lakers did. And Kobe went 42-40 the season before...
The Lakers lost to the Celtics last year because they weren't tough. Even their own players (including Kobe) acknowledged that afterwards. This year they...
Wilt got criticized for sitting out a few minutes in 1969 game 7 after being injured, but the real reason the Lakers lost was coach Butch van Breda Kolff, who...
There isn't a "perception conspiracy" against the Lakers. They have lost some championship series because they were soft, and not tough enough. That isn't...

Much as I hate to admit it, I don't see how last year's Celtics' team does not qualify as a great team. They were 50 game over .500. They beat the two...
