Re: [mnbuckets] Minnesota High School Products

He is still listed on the Michigan State roster, including the MSU athletics Web site, but has not played yet this year.

The question asked in the original message below is one I have as well:

Does anyone know if Isiah Dahlman has transferred somewhere, either to play ball, or focus on academics?

Just curious ...

Thanks,

Unfortunately, one of them was thrown out of DeLaSalle for cheating on a test, and if you had received your videotapes you would have seen the other one hit an opponent in the face (no foul because the officials didn‚t see it but the entire rest of the world did). But they‚re just kids. Hopefully they are not the second and third coming of Brandon Smith.

Yeah, I'm not too excited about Mbakwe either.  I am more excited about White and Williams, who Tubby has apparently gotten commitments from.  Not because I have seen them (I never got my annual care package of state tournament tapes from my sister last spring, which is the only way I can see any of these kids) but because I have read that they are both rated in the top 20 nationally.  Who knows how they will really turn out, of course, but has Minnesota ever had TWO top 20 rated high school boys basketball players at the same time?  Given recent history, it is just as amazing that the Gophes got both of them.  With this year's freshman big men having a year under their belts, and Nolen and Hoffarber upperclassmen, next year's team could be pretty good if the dynamic duo are as good as advertised.

Cody Schilling is at Northwestern Iowa, an NAIA school located close to his hometown of Ellsworth, and where his brother goes. He intends to return to Ellsworth to farm and wanted to be close to home. Winona State was his other finalist. No question he could be a great D2 player. He should score, oh, about 10,000 points in NAIA. His brother, who is not 1/4 the player he is--well that‚s probably unfair, you may recall Ellsworth was runner-up to Mankato Loyola in Class A back in 2004(?), so, OK, he‚s not half the player Cody is˜scored more than 2,000.

Mbakwe did commit to the Gophers. Personally I think it is highly questionable that he can play in the Big 10. He reminds me of Bryce Webster, who went somewhere out west. Don‚t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Who did you like bett er last year˜Andrew Tucker or Jordan Taylor? 2 totally different players, but it was Taylor all the way for me. Already it‚s looking like Tucker, maybe. They could both be all-Americans if they play 4 years. Taylor is Al Nolen X 2. The other guy I really love is Noah Dahlmann, but it will be hard to tell how good he really is playing at that level. I always said he would be a better college player than Isaiah˜not as good of scoring skills, better in every other aspect of the game, and with 100 percent better body.

Well, him and Cole Aldrich.
