Minnesota High School Products

With the start of the 2008-2009 college basketball season now underway, I know of 48 Minnesota high school products on D1 rosters.

Jamal Abu-Shamala (Shakopee) Minnesota

Kwadzo Ahelegbe (Tartan) Northern Iowa

Cole Aldrich (Bloomington Jefferson) Kansas

Ryan Amoroso (Burnsville) San Diego State

Kit Avery (Southwest Christian) Drake

Armond Battle (Benilde-St. Margaret’s) Tulsa

Jared Berggren (Princeton) Wisconsin

Andrew Brommer (Rosemount) Iowa

Travis Brown (Richfield) Northern Iowa

Travis Busch (Mounds View) Minnesota

Eric Carlson (Shakopee) North Dakota State

Freddy Coleman (St. Paul Johnson) North Dakota State

Noah Dahlman (Braham) Wofford

Jermain Davis (Robbinsdale Cooper) Iowa

Mark Engen (Red Rock Central) South Dakota State

C.J. Erickson (Minnetonka) Evansville

DeJuan Flowers (Hopkins) North Dakota State

Ross Forman (Minneapolis Patrick Henry) Loyola Illinois

James Granstra (Southwest Star Concept) Western Illinois

Kevin Gullikson (Stillwater) Wisconsin

David Hanson (Maranatha) Cal Poly

Andrew Henke (Hopkins) Air Force

Jordan Hicks (Rochester Mayo) Loyola Illinois

P.J. Hill (Minneapolis North) Ohio State

Blake Hoffarber (Hopkins) Minnesota

Urule Igbavboa (Tartan) Valparaiso

Matt Janning (Watertown-Mayer) Northeastern

Darren Kent (Eastview) Kansas State

Lucas Kuipers (Rochester Mayo) Rice

Jon Leuer (Orono) Wisconsin

John Manley (Minnetonka) Cal Poly

Romain Martin (Minneapolis North) Eastern Illinois

Jefferson Mason (Robbinsdale Cooper) Northern Colorado

Ben Nelson (Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City) Nebraska

Al Nolen (Minneapolis Patrick Henry) Minnesota

Austin Pennick (Moorhead Par Christian) North Dakota State

Alex Rubin (Robbinsdale Armstrong) Illinois State

Justin Stommes (Rocori) Eastern Kentucky

Sam Sussenguth (Willmar) North Dakota State

Chris Taylor (Wayzata) Brown

Jordan Taylor (Benilde-St. Margaret’s) Wisconsin

Anthony Tucker (Minnetonka) Iowa

Dan Vandervieren (Hopkins) Colorado State

Josh Vaughan (Braham) North Dakota State

Blake Williams (Blake) Dartmouth

Brett Winkelman (Morris) North Dakota State

Ryan Wittman (Eden Prairie) Cornell

Ben Woodside (Albert Lea) North Dakota State

Top scoring performances so far have been Ben Woodside (28 v non-D1 competition), Ryan Wittman (25 v St. John’s), Matt Janning (24 v Providence) and Anthony Tucker (21 v The Citadel, averaging 15 ppg in his first 3 games.)

Noah Dahlman scored 14 v Clemson, and Ross Forman scored 10 v Georgia.

20 double digit scorers already – Abu-Shamala, Aldrich, Carlson, Dahlman, Davis, Flowers, Forman, Henke, Igbavboa, Kent, Leuer, Martin, Mason, Nolan, Pennick, Stommes, Tucker, Winkelman, Wittman, and Woodside.  (So far all the North Dakota State players reached double figures against non-D1 competition, as did Leuer and Nolan.)

Drew Lundberg (Owatonna, ex-Northern Iowa) has transferred to North Dakota State and is sitting out this season as a transfer.

Trevor Mbakwe (St. Bernard’s) has left Marquette, is playing at a JC, and I understand has committed to the Gophers.

I do not know where the following players are going to school, if anywhere.

Brad Brown (Orono) ex-Utah State

Isaiah Dahlman  (Braham) ex-Michigan State (Where is he?)

Cash Eggleston (Minnesota Transitions) Did he ever go to college?

Zach Filzen (Farmington) ex-Northern Arizona

Angelo Johnson (Minneapolis Patrick Henry) ex-USC

Cory Johnson (Duluth East) ex-Iowa State (Where is he?)

Nevin Lubarski (Stephen-Argyle Central) ex-Dakota State

Cameron Rundles (DeLaSalle) ex-Montana

Cody Schilling (Ellsworth) Why isn’t he playing D1?

Brandon Smith (Minneapolis Patrick Henry) ex-Gopher

Bryce Webster (St. Thomas Academy) ex-Gopher

And then there is Anthony DiLoretto (Hopkins) who was supposed to be a freshman at Cal Poly this season.

I would greatly appreciate updates on the transfers and any Minnesota high school products that I have missed.
