I've often talked about Minnesota high school basketball products that got away. I haven't seen much college football while overseas, but last week I caught some of the Ohio State and Nebraska games and discovered that Ohio State All American linebacker James Laurinaitis is from Wayzata and Nebraska star receiver/returner Nate Swift is from Hutchinson. Mason did fortunately land the excellent home grown passing combo of Adam Weber and Eric Decker. But I am curious what other top in-state players the Gophers have missed on besides Laurinaitis and Swift. Can anybody who follows Minnesota high school football more than me (which is probably everyone on this listserv) name some other quality college football players of note -- current or past -- who got away?
Thanks.
