Brewer has not done anything to justify
being an NBA starter. He did not score at all, he did not pass (lousy
assist ratio), he did not rebound, and he did not make the other team turn the
ball over. (He didn’t have many steals for a guy whose only
justification for playing is to provide defense on the wings, and he had fewer
blocks than Kyle Korver and Marko Jaric.) And it’s not like he’s
some teenager that gets a pass on his rookie season. He is older than
Rudy Gay, and is a year older than fellow

They offered Gomes, Smith and
Richard.
They may go after Telfair but like I said, there’s a bunch of free agent
1s out there. The Wolves actually have some cap room to go after
somebody—not an A type guy but a back-up type point. That begs the
question of whether Foye is really a 1, but right now he’s the only guy
on the roster who is even a combo much less a 1.
Miller was the 6th man of the year a couple years ago. If they bring him off
the bench, then maybe McCants starts, but they seemed to prefer McCants off the
bench. People are not real high on McCants. Attitude. No D. So even if they
bring McCants off the bench, they could start Gomes at the 3 and Brewer at the
2. Or for that matter they could bring Love off the bench, I mean he’s a
rookie. Gomes was the 4 last year.
Suddenly they’ve got lots of options up f

What happened to McCants? Despite his issues, he seems more like an NBA starter than Brewer.
The Wolves got Love, Miller and (in the long run) a few million dollars for Mayo. Sounds like a (gasp) good deal to me. So will this trade with an ex-Celtic GM exiled toprovide karmic balance for the Garnett trade to the Celtics? Memphis
I see the Wolves have SIX free agents – Telfair, Snyder and Doleac unrestricted, Gomes, Smith and Richard restricted. Any word on which ones they plan to sign?

On draft day I almost sent a post saying, Pick Love! Pick Love!
Then I thought, well, Mayo is a good pick.
And, then, I couldn’t help but think about Ray Allen and Brandon Roy. Is O.J. Mayo the next coming of Allen and Roy? Do Allen and Roy sound like a comedy duo or what?
Well, I like Love’s game. And the Wolves now suddenly have a hole at the point. But there’s a whole bunch of guys (free agents) out there who can play the point. I’m not sure that Tyron n Lue might not be better than Sebastien Telfair (not Mayo, but Telfair). So we’ll see. In the short term I’d be pretty sure that Mike Miller is the real difference maker for the Wolves.
Starting for the Wolves:Jefferson , Love, Brewer, Miller and Foye? Not much of a defensive unit is all I can say, other than Brewer. But if Miller is half the shooter they’re making him out to be, this lineup should score. Unless Brewer and Foye insist on taking a bunch of shots.

Another draft, another trade. This one supposedly was engineered by
Taylor himself. Perhaps he was nervous about the box office potential

to Kevin McHale for playing tribute to his old high school coach (and
mine), Pecky Smilanich, with the next Wolves pick.
