What happened to McCants? Despite
his issues, he seems more like an NBA starter than Brewer.
The Wolves got Love, Miller and (in the
long run) a few million dollars for Mayo. Sounds like a (gasp) good deal
to me. So will this trade with an ex-Celtic GM exiled to Memphis provide
karmic balance for the Garnett trade to the Celtics?
I see the Wolves have SIX free agents –
Telfair, Snyder and Doleac unrestricted, Gomes, Smith and Richard restricted.
Any word on which ones they plan to sign?

On draft day I almost sent a post
saying, Pick Love! Pick Love!
Then I thought, well, Mayo is a good pick.
And, then, I couldn’t help but think about Ray Allen and Brandon Roy. Is
O.J. Mayo the next coming of Allen and Roy? Do Allen and Roy sound like a
comedy duo or what?
Well, I like Love’s game. And the Wolves now suddenly have a hole at the
point. But there’s a whole bunch of guys (free agents) out there who can
play the point. I’m not sure that Tyronn
Lue might not be better than Sebastien Telfair (not Mayo, but Telfair). So
we’ll see. In the short term I’d be pretty sure that Mike Miller is
the real difference maker for the Wolves.
Starting for the Wolves: Jefferson, Love,
Brewer, Miller and Foye? Not much of a defensive unit is all I can say, other
than Brewer. But if Miller is half the shooter they’re making him out to
be, this lineup should score. Unless Brewer and Foye insist on taking a bunch
of shots.

And hats off
to Kevin McHale for playing tribute to his old high school coach (and
mine), Pecky Smilanich, with the next Wolves pick.

Brewer has not done anything to justify being an NBA starter. He did not score at all, he did not pass (lousy assist ratio), he did not rebound, and he did...

Don't know about Richard, but Gomes and Smith would have been the two I would have offered contracts too. Agree on the availability of decent backup point...
Assuming the guys they traded, like Mayo, don't come back, who are the five (if I'm counting them all) top draft picks of the Wolves who never played for them?...
