Re: [mnbuckets] Re: NBA Draft

The most insane thing of all—well, aside from Isiah Thomas—has to be the 4 UConn Huskies picked in the first round, not that they probably didn’t belong there, but that the team accomplished so little. OTOH it’s also true that nobody in the draft got dissed like Marcus Williams and Rudy Gay didn’t exactly get all loved up either. And I had seen Boone in the lottery before the workouts. And Hilton Armstrong, the only one of the 4 who was drafted any earlier than he could possibly have been, nobody thinks he is anything but a journeyman, a career back-up.

Still, the question for me is whether the Wolves have improved themselves. You got Foye, you got 3 wasted 2nd round picks and maybe it is silly to think there was anything worthwhile to be had anyway. And you got $1 million and, I’m told, another $1 million available by not re-signing some free agents (Banks?). What is $2 million gonna get you? Some teams get great value for $2 million. With the Wolves, if they don’t pay twice as much as a guy is worth, they tend to get very little. So we’ll see. But it says here that Foye better be the second coming of Chauncey Billups or else.

Looks like the Timbies will keep their first round draft pick this year (so, lose it next year). I looked at ten or twelve mock drafts. I figure the odds are...

I watched the whole thing on ESPN, and it was actually pretty interesting, despite the usual plethora of fat bejewelled mothers, bad MTV fashion, mindnumbing...

Great stuff. I ³watched² on the internet and there certainly were a lot of ³huh?² moments. But: The Wolves got $1 million pack of gum, and apparently the...

The Wolves strategy clearly was to avoid spending any money on 2nd round picks. If they can cobble together enough money for a decent free agent (including...

If McHale has screwed up the payroll so much that he can't even afford to draft decent players in the SECOND round, he is even more pathetic as a GM than I...
