heat qualifying AND feature racing on Saturday. Grandstand admission
for Saturday is $8, with kids, ages 6 to 12, in at $3. Pit passes

their heat qualifying and feature race. Grandstand admission for

U.M.P. Challenge of Champions Extravaganza rolls into I-55 Raceway
on October 2nd!

Pevely, MO (September 29, 2004) I-55 Raceway and the United
Midwestern Promoters (U.M.P.) present the 2nd Annual U.M.P.
Challenge of Champions Extravaganza on Saturday, October 2nd at the
I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO. Over $40,000 in prize money will be on
the line with a top prize of $15,000 being awarded to the winner of
this event. This event is the finale event of the 2004 U.M.P.
Challenge of Champions Series which included seventeen other events
that were run throughout the Midwest. Twelve different drivers won
those previous seventeen events and therefore have guaranteed
themselves are starting spot in this Extravaganza event!

Those twelve winners include:
Tony Albright, who won the opening event of the season at
Clarksville Speedway on April 3rd.

Dennis Erb, who has won three events this year including April 9th
at Davenport Speedway, May 15th at Kamp Motor Speedway and July 23rd
at the Vermilion County Speedway.

Randy Korte, who won at the Godfrey Speedway on April 23rd.

Don O'Neal, who won at the Vermilion County Speedway on May 16th.

Frankie Martin, who took the win at the Highland Speedway on May
22nd and then won his second event on July 31st at the Mt. Vernon
Raceway.

Kevin Weaver, who has two wins including the May 23rd event at the
Fayette County Speedway and the June 24th event at Kamp Motor
Speedway.

Rodney Melvin, who also has two wins including the May 28th event at
the Clay County Speedway and the June 18th event at the Belle-Clair
Speedway.

Matt Taylor, who took the win at the Fairbury American Legion
Speedway on May 29th.

Eric Smith, who won at the Spoon River Speedway on June 3rd.

Shannon Babb, who took the win at the Highland Speedway on July 28th.

Terry English, who won at the Paducah Int'l Raceway on August 7th.

Jason Feger, who claimed the final Challenge of Champions event at
Macon Speedway on September 26th.

This event provides a unique format that not only rewards the
drivers who followed the U.M.P. Challenge of Champions Series, but
also allows great opportunities for other drivers to compete in the
event as well. The racing format will go as listed below:

Qualifications: All race cars will qualify in time trials.

Challenge of Champions Dash: The top 7 in Challenge of Champions
Points without a guaranteed starting position will race in a 10 lap
Dash. The first four (4) from the Dash get a starting spot in the
feature. Fifth, sixth and seventh in the Dash will start on the pole
of the B Heats! The top seven in points without a guaranteed
starting spot are Brian Shirley, Mark Faust, Chad Zobrist, Roger
Long, Wes Steidinger, Michael Bradley and Ed Dixon.

"B" Heats: Two or Three qualifying B Heats will be held for all race
cars not already guaranteed into the feature. Five or more drivers
will make the feature event from the "B" Heats. (# of drivers from
the B Heats will vary depending on if all drivers locked into this
event show up. If one or two drivers locked in do not show up, more
drivers will be taken from these B heats)

Consolation Race: A consolation race will be held for drivers unable
to make the feature through the B Heats. One driver will make the
feature.

Provisional: The 24th and final starting position for the feature
will be a provisional starting position to the highest driver in
Challenge of Champions Series Points not yet qualified for the
feature.

"A" Heats: The 24 drivers qualified for the 40 lap feature event
revert back to their qualifying times to determine the lineup for
three 8 car, 10 lap heats.

Feature Line Up: The lineup for the 40 lap feature event is
determined by how you finish the "A" Heats.

NOTE: Anyone wrecking or having mechanical problems in a heat, can
drive a replacement car in the Feature. But the driver must start in
the rear, and the replacement car must have qualified and raced in a
B Heat. No driver can qualify more than one car.

This race will also award National & State UMP Points.

A solid field of U.M.P. Modifieds will also be on hand competing for
a $1,000 first place prize. The U.M.P. Modifieds always provide a
great competitive show at I-55 Raceway with side-by-side fast paced
action.

Sportsman cars are also on the card and their rules have been opened
up for this event to allow many of the other area track's cars to be
able to compete in this event. The Sportsman division will be
battling for a $500 top prize.

Gates at the I-55 Raceway will open at 4pm with U.M.P. Late Model
qualifying beginning at 6:30pm. Grandstand tickets are $20 with kids
12 and under free.

I-55 Raceway, a high-banked, one-third-mile clay oval, is located 30
minutes south of the St. Louis Gateway Arch on Interstate 55 at
Pevely exit 180 & 178. For more information, call the track at (636)
479-3219 or visit www.i55raceway.com.

Brown earns W.O.W. prize at 24 Raceway
Sun. September 26, 2004

By Ron Lueck

(Moberly, MO) -- 24 Raceway in 24 Raceway's Sunday night part of the
two-night weekend of racing, fans got a real treat. The field of 22
of the fast 360 cubic inch Sprint cars from the Winged Outlaw
Warriors finished out their 2004 season here at 24 Raceway with a
great show on this half mile track.

The #21 car of Brian Brown was one fast sprint car, running way out
front in his heat to secure the pole position. Rusty Potter from
Boonville started alongside Brown in his #3P on this last race for
the season. The #14, an older back-up car of Randy Martin's, moved
into the 2nd spot early on from a row 2 start. But the California
(Mo) driver faded back after the strong running #86 car of Doug
Wilson hit the turn 1 wall on lap 3 for the 1st caution of the race.
Martin gave way to the 5H car of Bobby Hawks from Jacksonville,
Illinois, who went on to finish 2nd behind that awfully fast #21car
of Brown's. Brown never once trailed, even with 2 more yellows to
bunch up the field before crossing the finish line. Potter stayed in
contention and came home 3rd, in front of the 71 car of Mike Trent
from Columbia.

Also running in this special with the sprint cars on Sunday evening
were the the B-modifieds, 4 cylinder Hornets and Sportsman.

The 4 cylinder Hornets had 12 cars start out the night with the #0
car of Jimmy Borgmann from Jeff City start from the pole, next to
the 1B of Mike Burchett. On the 1st lap, Borgmann collected the 01
car of John Brown, Huntsville, who came charging back and hit
Borgmann in the driver's door, only to get disqualified and sent
home early. David Lorton's 24-7 car then took over the lead with
Dustin Boling close behind in his #36 car. Lap 3 saw the Clarence
native, Boling, move to the front, lead all the remaining laps and
win over the 24-7 car, moving Saturday night's winner, Lorton, to
2nd place.

The Sportsman class had the #3 of Tim Eravi from Moberly start up
front, with the 88s of Jerry Shoemaker from Kirksville starting
outside him. Racing 4-wide into turn 1, the 01 of Jeff Creed took
only 1 lap to move up and take the lead over the #14 of Pete Agee.
Lap 9 saw a turn 4 spin by Agee, forcing him to the back of the
field. Agee wound up coming right back up to take 2nd at the end,
with Eravi getting 3rd.

Next up, came 18 B-modifieds with the 20 car of Tony Garner of
Macon, on the pole. The DJ1 car of Charlie Baker, a LaBelle
resident, started in the front row, outside. And this race too, had
3-wide racing early, with Chris Leathers, also from Macon, putting
his #17 car into the lead. Leathers then had a turn 4 incident with
the 82 car of Kelly Smith, allowing the #40 car of David Holder and
the #3 of Bob Woodrow to battle for the lead. Then Holder's engine
blew and sent the Clarence driver to the infield. This left the 3
car of Woodrow racing with the #63 of Lance Cox of Mexico, Smith,
and also the 11w of Hallsville's Larry Winn, charging up from the
middle of the pack. Cox went on to the win, followed by Kirksville's
Smith, with Winn getting 3rd.

Sunday night, Shilby's Tire and Wheel of Columbia donated two bikes
to the Junior Race Fan Club. The first was won by 12 year-old Evan
Clark of Higbee, and the 2nd went to Dominick Guthrie, a 7 year old
resident of Moberly. Thanks go out to Sherry Embree for her
assistance with trophy presentations after the 4 Sunday night wins.
And thanks, once again to Jim Brittingham as pace driver in the red
Chevy pickup from Bentz GM Country.

The grandstand 50-50 pot of $301 certainly made Josh Smith of
Kirksville a happy race fan for the evening (as if the sprint car
show was not enough).

World Cup 300. This event, called the Missouri Cup, will be
highlighted not only by its regular classes but will feature IMCA
Dirt Type Modifieds and Street Stock cars racing on the high-banks
of I-70 Speedway.

The Dirt Modifieds will be running a 30-lap feature event paying
$1500 to win on Saturday night October 2. The Modifieds will be
running on the American Racer G60 tire which is the universal tire
for Dirt Modifieds while a 2400 lbs minnimum weight is needed and 56
percent left-side, while the Dirt-Type Street Stockers or Factory
Stocks will be bringing their rules in, which they compete on
normally, and will be battling for a 20-lap feature paying $1000 to
win. The top-five from that feature will be allowed to tack on the
rear of the normal I-70 Super Stock feature for that evening.

"The World Cup 300 is our crown jewel, but we just don't have the
time to let all our classes run that weekend(Oct.8-9)," said I-70
Speedway owner Brad McDonald. "So we at I-70 wanted to include all
our classes to showcase their talents before the fans. We also
decided to run our Enduro 4-Cylinder Cars, Super Stocks, and Dash
Cars.

"We're looking at universal-rules type of cars. The IMCA type
Modifieds and Street Stocks are pretty much the same, so we decided
to try this and put them on the October 2 card. We are paying some
good money for our normal three competing classes and this deal for
the Modifeds and Street Stocks is good. this allows drivers a chance
to compete at I-70 with the cars they normally run on the dirt
tracks,"
McDonald added.

Conversation: Jamie McMurray

DOVER, Del. -- Jamie McMurray fell 15 points short of the
opportunity to chase the Nextel Cup, and it was hard on him. Nights
brought sleeplessness as he replayed the final stages of the Chevy
Rock n' Roll 400 in his mind.

But he knows it's time to move on, to race for 11th. He's done so,
and posted a pair of top 10 finishes in the first two playoff races.
For the record, that's six-straight top 10s.

Last Saturday, prior to Happy Hour practice at Dover International
Speedway, McMurray sat down with NASCAR.COM Senior Writer Marty
Smith to talk about the worrisome days leading up to Richmond and
the restless nights that followed, the Bristol body and home
improvement tips from Sterling Marlin.

First off, none of us have really gotten to speak with you since
Richmond. I know you want to put it behind you, but what are your
thoughts about being that 11th place guy, being that close and
whether the rest of the season is anticlimactic now, because you
guys are racing so well.

McMurray: Yeah, it's probably the most disappointing thing that's
happened to me in my racing career, to come that close. And there's
so many ways to look at that.

McMurray is tied for second in top-10 finishes (17). Credit:
Autostock

If we hadn't had the 25 points taken away from us for the body deal
at Bristol, and the DNFs with the engines. Gosh, if you just could
have finished one spot better in three of the 26 races, you'd make
it. It's so close.

It's disappointing, but at the same time, our team is running as
well as it ever has. The week after Richmond was probably the
hardest, and then we went on to Loudon and were going to qualify
well - I think we were first when it got rained out.

Then we ended up running fifth, so I kind of forgot about it.
Actually, it seems like it's been a month since Richmond, seems like
it's been forever and it's only been a week and a half. I'm just
glad it's all over with, and I'm just ready to move forward.

You were talking about how hard that week after Richmond was, did
you do something to get away? How'd you cope with it?

McMurray: I had pretty much a normal week. The biggest thing was I
was so mentally worn out before the race at Richmond, just worrying
about the points deal. I'd never been that stressed out, I don't
think, over anything.

Then when it was over with, and the race was over with, I got home
at like midnight, one in the morning, and I slept until like noon
the next day. And I don't ever sleep late. I was just junk, worn out.

Then, the next two nights I couldn't sleep. Stayed up thinking about
it, running over the last 40 laps in your head, just wondering what
you could have done different.

But didn't have a whole lot we could do different. Just pretty much
had my normal week. For Loudon, I think I went to the shop one day
and then, obviously, I'm still working on my house. So I kind of
kept myself entertained with that.

So you're building a new house?

McMurray: No, just remodeled a house. I've got a bunch of land, so I
put a gate up, a wall, a fence, a pond. I've got all kinds of
projects going on up there. And I'm not doing any of the work. I'm
just kind of watching everybody else work. It's fun.

I was going to ask if it's something you're doing yourself.

McMurray: Yeah. Naw. I've got a contractor that helps me, but then
I'm really picky. So I just go out and tell the guys what I want.
It's pretty cool. I've always like to watch home improvement stuff,
so when you get to see it actually happen at your house it's pretty
cool.

I just built a house last November myself and I can't do anything
either. I'm very disinclined there. Anyway, there's been a lot of
speculation on where you're going to be driving, when. We know
you're going to be at Ganassi in 2005. That whole deal had to be
mentally taxing on you, as well.

McMurray: Yeah, most definitely. Wow. It's ... I'm definitely going
to be back here next year, and I'm going to run, hopefully, up to 24
Busch races next year. Trying to get all that stuff finalized with
Rusty. I'm pretty excited about that. I've never really went into a
season knowing I was going to run Busch races.

The first year, with (James) Finch, that kind of came about right at
the end. Then last year I wasn't planning on doing anything and
ended up in the TrimSpa car for a race and ended up driving Finch's
car for a while. And now, I'm in Rusty's car. So we pretty much know
what we're going to do next year, so that's pretty exciting to have
your whole schedule planned out.

You were talking about that 25-point penalty at Bristol. A lot of
people have voiced the opinion that that kept you guys out. But if
you look at the stat sheet, you had a lot of motor issues. Even
Casey (Mears) had a motor issue at Atlanta leading the race, or at
least when he was very fast. Has that been addressed, and is it
remedied?

McMurray: Well, the deal with the body, it was an honest mistake. We
went to a racetrack, Bristol, that you plan on tearing a car up, or
least have a 50/50 shot at tearing it up.

And it's one thing if you show up at one of these really fast
racetracks with a cheated-up car, because you know you're going to
have an advantage.

But at Bristol, it just slipped through. I know all those guys back
at the shop felt horrible. I think if you're trying to cheat, trying
to sneak something by, it'd have been different. But we honestly, it
was just a mistake. That's part of being human, is making mistakes.

I screw up all the time and those guys don't ever yell at me. So you
can't get mad at those guys, because no one did it on purpose.

It was just one of those things. The engine deal, they kind of sat
me down and we talked about it, and the part that's hard to accept
is, I think Casey's broke one motor, and Sterling hasn't broken any,
and I've broke four or five.

So if we were to divide those up between everybody, a couple engines
failures per year is no big deal. That's expected. You're going to
have that in what we do. We just happened to get stuck with the ones
that wanted to break. We didn't ever break the same thing twice. We
broke something different every single time.

And every time it broke, they went back and fixed it and we haven't
had a problem again with it. It's very, very frustrating and
disappointing, but at the same time it's not like all three teams
were blowing motors up, just mine. But there's not a lot you can do
about it. It's the way, sometimes, your seasons go.

As well as you're running, it seems if you continued this, you'd be
a top 10 driver at the end of the year. Does it just kill you to not
be able to race your way in there, and do you think NASCAR should
visit some way for you guys being able to do that?

McMurray: I told someone yesterday that I wish they'd have made it
600 points, but if you'd have made it 600 points, then the guy who
was 605 (points) out would have said you need to make it 700. You
knew the rules going in. It was exciting.

The points system, I was pretty much against it at the beginning of
the year and, as a driver, you still don't like it because I have
the possibly of getting up to like sixth in points. But it
definitely was good for the fans. If you read what all the emails
and articles that fans are writing in, it's pretty exciting.

It was definitely some drama for the drivers, whether you were going
to get in that race or not. So I think it probably did what NASCAR
wanted it to do, and it's going to be exciting these next eight
races, or whatever it is, to see who's going to win the
championship, because it's so close.

So probably it did what they wanted it to do, but as a driver you'd
like to see getting back into the top 10.

Are you in a situation now, though, where you can just pin your ears
back? Is there any conservative approach at all to try to finish
11th, or is it like, the hell with it, I'm going to just mash it.

McMurray: Yeah, but we do that all year, with the exception of the
last two races at Richmond and California. But even at California
with five laps to go me and (Brian) Vickers and Carl (Edwards) were
all three-wide, just sideways.

So it wasn't like you were racing conservative. We were racing our
(butts) off, just giving it 100 percent. We're not going to do
anything different.

So talk to me about this home improvement deal of yours. What's your
style? Are you earth tones? Are you new and hip? What's the story
there?

McMurray: You know, I just let my contractor help me pick all that
stuff out, because I'm not very good at that. I know what I don't
like, but I don't really know what I like.

So I went through some houses and pointed at stuff and said, 'I like
that and I like that.' Now that's as far as the inside of the house.
Now, the outside of the house I know exactly what I want, with the
fence and the gate. Actually, I designed my own gate.

That's cool stuff to get do. It's different. It's hard. Casey
(Mears) is sitting here. He's doing the same thing with his house,
getting it decorated and everything. And when you're our age, you're
just not used to doing stuff like that.

It's our first time to go through it, but it's part of life and
everyone wants to have a nice home. That's something that's really
important to me, to have all my stuff looking good and live in a
nice house.

You could always go to Sterling for advice, I'm sure.

McMurray: Probably not. Let's see. It'd have a pole in it somewhere
more than likely.

Yeah. A pole and a big beer chest.

McMurray: Yeah! (laughing heartily). No doubt! So no, probably not
going to go to Sterling for any advice on decorating.

So what else do you have going on outside the racecar? Doing
anything new, fun? Hobbies?

McMurray: No. Right now I'm just trying to get all this stuff
finalized for our Busch program next year, have some exciting stuff
going to happen there that I think we're going to get to announce.
Some really cool stuff. That deal's fun.

That's what's going on right now, just staying busy. Honestly, with
racing, in the last two or three months I've learned a lot being
around Rusty about the business side of racing and dealing with
sponsors and fans. He's been a really good guy for me to be around,
because he's been around for a long time and has done it all.

He's one of those guys, man, I look up to him right now for advice
on how to deal with sponsors and fans and the business side of the
sport.

Rusty Wallace has more sponsors on his sleeves than Jeff Gordon or
anyone else, and I've watched the way he deals with them and someone
really good to look at and try to be like.

Plus he's fielding fast cars. You're wheeling the fire out of that
thing.

McMurray: Yeah. Rusty definitely has the best equipment in the Busch
Series. And he's one of those guys that if I tell him, 'Hey, I think
this is what I think we need to go get,' whether it's brakes, no
matter what it is, he'll go buy it.

He's like, 'Hey man, if it's in our budget we'll go get it.' And I
haven't found anything that isn't in the budget yet. That's what you
want to hear from a car owner. If you need it, we'll go buy it. So,
good guy.

Do you see him being a Cup owner someday?

McMurray: He already is. He owns three Cup teams right now with
Penske. I don't think he has intentions of turning his Busch program
into a Cup team, because owns -- I don't now what the percentage is,
exactly -- 25 percent or whatever, of Penske Racing, with his car,
Ryan's (Newman) car and Brendan's (Gaughan)car.

So he already owns some Cup teams, and the Busch deal is something
he and Patty started from scratch and it's something they're going
to build up. One day you'll see Stephen in that car.

That's interesting. I forget that Rusty has that kind of stake in
Penske. What about you? Any aspirations for Jamie McMurray Racing?

McMurray: Yeah, I ate dinner with Felix (Sabates) last Monday, and
he asked me what my future plans were. I mentioned something to him
about maybe starting a Truck team or Busch team.

I thought he was going to slap me. He was like, 'Why do you want to
waste your money?' But yeah, I think that's something one day I'd
want to be involved in.

But at the same time, it's something I don't want to spend my own
money on. If I can find a sponsor that's willing to do it with me
and that we can take care of each other and both be happy, then
yeah, definitely.

It's hard when you're a racer not to want to own a race team, or be
involved in that. It's a different side of it other than driving.
You know, I watch Kevin (Harvick) and Rusty, and they really enjoy
the teams they own because it's a different side of it. I'm as much
a racer as those guys are, and I think it'd be cool one day.

Wendell Wallace Dominates Fall Shootout At I-44 Speedway

By Brennon Willard

Lebanon, Mo.- The second annual Fall Shootout at the Lebanon I-44
Speedway saw over 190 cars check in, all looking to cash in on the
$80,000 purse. Batesville, Arkansas' Wendell Wallace dominated the
50-lap MARS Feature to take home the $10,000 check in front of a
massive crowd of over 5,000 people.

Defending Fall Shootout Champion Bill Frye won the 20-lap qualifying
feature on Friday night to earn the pole for the MARS A-Feature led
the 22 car field to the green flag. Wallace, who won Saturday
night's qualifying feature, started alongside Frye and quickly
jumped out to the early lead. Crowd favorite Terry Phillips started
in fifth place and quickly worked his way up to third place.

The race stayed green until lap-21 when Washington's Ed Dixon lost a
motor in turn four bringing out the caution. The race would restart
only to see the caution fly again one lap later when Phillips slowed
in turn one after a flat right front tire. Phillips would restart at
the tail end of the lead lap when the race went back green and
immediately went charging towards the front. Phillips made his way
up to fourth when the caution flew with eight laps to go for Joey
Mack stalling in turn four.

The late caution would set up an eight-lap shootout between Wallace,
Al Purkey, Frye and Phillips for the win. Wallace would pull away
when the green flag dropped leaving Frye and Phillips battling for
second place. Wallace would cruise to the victory with Frye,
Phillips, Purkey and Jeff Floyd rounding out the top five.

Phillips, who claimed the 2004 MARS Championship when he started the
race, would be joined by Wallace after the race as the two took
a "Polish" victory lap around the track in honor of Phillips' late
father Larry who passed away earlier this week.

The Show-Me Racing IMCA Late Models put on a great show for the
sellout crowd with Leslie Essary taking the victory in the $1,500 to
win feature over defending IMCA National Champion Justin Wells.
Essary and Wells would be followed by Mark Bourney, Ken Essary and
Connor Ward to round out the top five of the 24-car field.

2004 Modified Track Champion, Eric Hudson, took the lead in the
$1500 to win modified feature and looked to be cruising to the win.
That was until a late race caution came out and Hudson would have to
hold off strong charges from Eric Lampe and Erik Maggard in the
closing laps. Steve Mullenburg and rookie Justin Newman rounded out
the top five.

Steve Morton took home the $800 top prize in the Super Stock
feature, holding off young gun Dustin Moore and Lebanon's Tony
Jackson Jr. Moore gave Morton a run for the victory after a late
race caution but came up short on the high side as Morton took the
victory. Moore, Jackson Jr., Ben Newell and Tim Petty rounded out
the top five.

The Factory Stock feature was a showcase of young talent between
Jordan Holloway and 2004 Track Champion Michael Maggard. Holloway
would hold off Maggard to take the $800 top prize. Kevin Brown came
home in third place; Mitch Keeter in fourth and David Hendrix had a
strong run coming home in fifth place.

The Bombers took to the track with 2004 Track Champion KC Prettyman
jumping out to the early lead on the 22-car field. The bombers put
on a great show at mid pack, with three and four wide racing
throughout the entire race. Roger Flood would take the lead away
from Prettyman midway through the race and would hold off Prettyman
the rest of the way to take the victory. Derrick Peterson, Jon
Mulienburg, followed Flood and Prettyman to the line and Matt Cates
came home in fifth place.

The Fall Shootout closed out what was a very exciting 2004 season.
Everyone at the I-44 Speedway would like to thank all the fans,
sponsors and drivers on a great season of racing!

Racing history takes center stage at Oct. 7-8 KC Festival of Speed
Mon. September 27, 2004

From Kansas City Festival of Speed
and Racer's Expo

(Kansas City, MO) -- The history of Motorsports will be on full
display at the Kansas City Festival of Speed & Racer's Expo. In
addition to featuring appearances and public autograph sessions by
current drivers from a variety of racing series the event will play
host to a number of legendary drivers and have on display many
unique historical exhibits provided by the Kansas Auto Racing
Museum, National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and private exhibitors.

A TASTE OF NOSTALGIA TO CRUISE INTO KANSAS CITY: MILLER HIGH LIFE
CRUISER TO MAKE STOP AT KANSAS CITY FESTIVAL OF SPEED EVENT, OCT. 7-8

Champagne of Beers to toast 100 years of rich heritage with
traveling museum, including racing memorabilia

MILWAUKEE, Sept 21– All the great ones make a comeback. For Miller
High Life racing fans that may have missed it the first time around,
the High Life Cruiser is coming out of retirement. First toured in
1954, fittingly the same year that Sports Illustrated launched
(great beer in one hand and sports news in the other), the Miller
High Life Cruiser branded bus was one of the first grassroots direct
promotional tours in the U.S. and today is celebrated as an American
icon.

Fueling excitement for the award-winning Champagne of Beers and in
honor of the rich racing tradition of Miller High Life, which
includes the 1983 Winston Cup Series Championship sponsored High
Life car driven by NASCAR
legend Bobby Allison, the Cruiser will be making a stop in Kansas
City October 7-8 at the Kansas City Festival of Speed Event at the
KCI Expo Center. The Cruiser has been on the road for the last four
months, visiting fairs, festivals and racing events across the
country, including the Brickyard 400 in August. Over the next two
months, it will visit a slew of events where the spirit of High Life
runs high and serve up brand history, relics, past ad campaigns, and
trivia to visitors age 21 and over.

Miller High Life, the brand that built Milwaukee-based Miller
Brewing Company and became part of American life through times of
economic uncertainty, war, and major sporting events, including
stock car racing, throughout much of the 20th century, toasted its
100th birthday in December, 2003. The Cruiser salutes the brand's
major milestone and sets a course for the next 100 years.

"Whether a lifelong fan of Miller High Life or a new one riding the
recent resurgence, the Cruiser heritage tour is a great way to
relive favorite High Life moments and enjoy a taste of nostalgia,"
says Carl Cahill, senior associate brand manager for Miller High
Life. "Both High Life and stock car racing are authentic, classic
and uniquely American."

The High Life Cruiser
The original Miller High Life Cruiser, designed in the early 1950s
by renowned industrial designer Brooks Stevens, became an instant
fan favorite, and was one of the first mobile marketing campaigns of
the modern era. Ahead of its time, the vehicle hydraulically lifted
and showcased a 10 ft. high replica of the Miller High Life bottle
on its roof when parked. Throughout 1954 and several years beyond,
the High Life Cruiser visited folks across the U.S., sharing stories
of the High Life brand's first half-century.

The new High Life Cruiser is 35 feet long and showcases hundreds of
pieces of High Life memorabilia from the last century, including a
retro style High-Life bar.

POPLAR BLUFF SPEEDWAY - SEPTEMBER 25, 2004

TOP 10 FEATURE WINNERS:

LATE MODEL:
5JR Billy James
99 Todd Hall
94T Scott Tracer
91 Chris Jones
3c Charles LaPlant
11x Little Johnny Stephens
x Bob Price
90 Bobby Prosise
39 Todd Clifford

The "Outlaw" Billy James wins his 11th feature win at the Poplar
Bluff Speedway. Just as excited tonight as he was on his first win,
Billy thanked his sponsors and said that many things have worked to
his advantage this year. He's had good, competitive, clean drivers
along with a good track to allow this many wins.

MODIFIED
G1 Tony Anglin
02 Robert Powers
66 Chris Hall
1 Greg King
45 Jerry Conner
10 Troy Fowler
75 Gene Fowler
10r Tim Radford
14 TJ Williams
21A Karl Adams

Awesome Anglin does it again barely beating out Robert Powers from
Campbell, Missouri, in a field of 24 cars tonight at the Poplar
Bluff Speedway. By lap 20 Anglin had stretched out a five-car lead
on the #02 car. But the excitement really came after the checked
flag dropped when the #21t of Todd Clifford and #10 of Jared Wagster
tied up on the back straight-a-way before entering turn three. This
incident broke out into a major brawl between the two IMCA drivers.
Security, track personnel and everyone else seemed to be involved in
this fight, which ended in disqualification of both teams.

SUPER STREET:
54C Claudie Cook
54A Tony Anglin
94 Scott Tracer
JP21 Jason Pennington
34 Johnny Houart
17h Steve Henley
11sr Chuck Tilley
30/30 Tim Winchester
69R Jamie Robards
6 Billy Kelm

Cookin' Claudie Cook beats teammate Awesome Anglin in the super
street feature. Cook led all 20 laps with Awesome Anglin, Hot Scott
Tracer and Jason Poohbear Pennington close behind. Claudie expressed
more excitement from this feature win than his first at PBS. He
thanked Charles Morrisette, car owner, for this outstanding car
along with his fellow racers.

PURE STREET:
97 Paul Reeder
20b Jacob Black
J19 Jason Palmer
C23 Billy Hopkins
15 Eric Lacy
2F Chad Farris
46 Michael Lack
11 Brad Barton
37 Chris Webb
29 Greg Casey
Paul Reeder wins Feature at PBS.
29 Pure Street Cars raced hard for a starting position in the
feature race of 20 cars. Jacob Black, Tony Lackey, Delain Scott and
Jim Hunt transferred from the B-Main to the A-Main. The #20b of
Jacob Black had his most impressive finish of all after a huge crash
on the drop of the green flag feature involving the #85 of Donna
Tilley, 20b of Jacob Black, and #85 of Delain Scott. Tilley's car
was hauled off the track by Rushin's Wrecker; Scott's car had to be
push started and Jacob Black left the track on two flat tires, bent
left upper A-frame, ball joint and spindle. While the rest of the
field was fixing to take the green after the caution, Black pulled
back onto the track, in the rear, with a crippled car. #20b came
from the back to an admirable second place finish. WTG!

CRUISER:
Z71 Austin/Pemmington
D21 Conway/Parrish
30 Trankler/Baretls
76 Carter/Carter
F14 Stevenson/Larmie
23s McChristian/Magourik (Steve & Terry)
12pk Beeson/Ruff
5x Hanley/Swofford
66 Rutherford/Reed
8ball McCollum/Busby

Z71 does it for the 11th time here at PBS. This time following super
close was the D21 of Conway/Parrish with #30 of Trankler/Bartels not
far behind. Austin and Pennington are both from Qulin, Missouri, and
enjoy nothing but racing. Congratulations boys on another win.

Grain Valley, Mo) -- The Inaugural Fall Shootout was held at Valley
Speedway last night (September 25th) and the "360" Sprints and SMRS
Midgets did not disappoint the standing room only crowd. There were
43 "360" Sprints and 18 Midgets for the event. The event showcased 5
heat races a "C" Main, "B" Main and then a 20 lap $1,500 to win "A"
main.

The "A" Main featured 20 cars and when the green dropped pole sitter
Eric Schrock took the early lead with hard charging Brian Brown
chasing him down. On lap 5 Brown (former World of Outlaw driver) put
the slide on in turns one and 2 and took the lead. The event saw 4
cautions but Brown held the lead until he became the victim of an
equipment failure and went off the track in turns 3-4 with only 3
laps remaining.

The lead was then assumed by Eric Schrock who was trailed by Randy
Martin, Terry Hink and Brian Grimes. When the checkers fell on the
inaugural event Eric Schrock was standing in victory lane with a
$1,500 payday with Randy Martin relegated to 2nd.

"We had an awesome car tonight and the track held up great." Said
Schrock. "The reputation of this track was that it was new and that
the water all year had taken it's toll and you do not want to run
there. Well they were wrong this is a great 3/8 mile and Mark
(Evenger, track owner) did a great job in preparation and we look
forward to being here a few times in 2005."

"The track slicked up a bit but it was great to pass on." Said 2nd
place driver Randy Martin. "We started in the back but the car
hooked up and we came right to the front. I think if we would have
had 5 more laps it would have been a different finishing order. I
could see Eric was burning off the right rear especially when he was
chasing Brownie (Brian Brown). Hey it could have been worse I
suppose and hats off to the Debbie and Mark for building a great
facility. I will be back here to race next year and I can tell you
that the field will of cars will be bigger as well as the word gets
out."

Clark wins 'Signs by Robbie Fast 40' at Adrian
Sat. September 25, 2004

By Jim Conaway

(Adrian, MO) -- Gary Clark continues to win big races.

Clark of Walker, Mo., topped a field of 81 to win
July 27's Harris Modified Clash at Iowa's famed
Knoxville Raceway.

His latest conquest took place here Saturday night
at Glenn and Colleen Portzen's Adrian Speedway with a
triumph over the Signs By Robbie Fast 40 Dream Race
for modifieds. His win was worth $2,000.

"I was pleased with the field of cars," Glenn
Portzen said. "We had a good cross section of
out-of-towners who visited Adrian Speedway for the
first time."

Adrian regular Dennis Bunger of Harrisonville began
the night by winning the first of six heat races and
he also won the pole scramble to earn the sought-after
pole position for the championship feature.

Tire problems in the early going prevented Bunger
from reeling off a win and Clark took advantage of the
situation by finishing ahead of Archie's Matt Johnson
for the triumph.

Des Moines, Iowa drivers Mike and Martin Bennett
led the out-of-state contingent by running fifth and
sixth, respectively.

Texans Casey Jordan and Chris Brown placed 10th and
11th.

Prior to the championship feature, a dash was won
held in honor of former Linn County Speedway and
Lakeside Speedway promoter Vern Claiborne. The race
was claimed by Todd Trey of Nevada, Mo.

The street-stock feature was won by Urich, Mo.'s
Troy Reasoner and Marc Carter of Warrensburg, Mo., who
won the points title at his hometown Central Missouri
Speedway, placed third.

Adrian officials will resume racing Saturday night
with a program featuring late models, modifieds,
street stocks and factory stocks. Hobby stocks also
will be a part of the program.

On Oct. 6, the Midwest Latemodel Racing Association
will pay a visit for the Al Bodenhamer Memorial.
Modifieds also will be a part of the Wednesday night
program.

Additional information may be obtained by calling
the track at 816-297-4400 or via the internet at

Roper tops Midway Speedway season-ender with Enduro victory

by Ronnie Williams
LEBANON, Mo. -- The racing season came to a close Friday night at
the Midway Speedway before a packed house and over 105 race teams in
the pits with extra money on the line in all classes provided from
Amsoil, The Heartland Antique Mall along with Kolt Knives, MWT
Transportation out of Lebanon, Laclede County Heating and Air along
with many others as another close night of racing saw a few new
winners take home the checkered flag.

The Super Stock feature would see 19 strong take the opening Green
as last weeks winner Rick Brown along with Jody Saultz brought the
field down on the start. Brown looped it in turn 1 bringing out an
original restart. On the drop again, Saultz took the early control
with Joe Miller in hot pursuit followed by Tony Jackson Jr. Saultz
who was looking for his first win of the season would hold the top
spot until lap 9, when Miller shot to the outside and Jackson Jr.
went down low making it a 3 wide battle going out of turn 2. From
there all eyes were not only up front but Ben Newell who started
19th on the grid was quickly coming to the front. Jackson then took
control followed by Miller as JC Newell made his presence known
battling for third place. Jackson and Miller continued the war up
front. On lap 14, Jackson used lapped traffic to take command and
captured the feature event, his 5th of the season followed by
Miller, JC Newell, Schaltz ans Ben Newell in the top 5.

The Winged Sprint Cars took to the track with Randy Roberts grabbing
the opening lead on the 18 car field until he looped it in turn 4
moving Eric Todd into the lead. On the restart, Eric looked strong
as Joe todd was now moving into contention with John Rowland, JP
Compton, Andy Gill and Jeff Kinder battling for position. a couple
of yellows for single spins bunched the field up as now Kinder was
the man on the move quickly up to 4th along with Compton coming
strong. Eric Todd continued to look strong as Kinder would loose
power on lap 13 taking him out. On the restart Compton was on the
move as John Rowland had now moving into second place as Joe Todd
fell back alittle. Behind them were Josh Fisher, Mike White, Clint
Todd Gill and others battling for position. Compton clearly had the
fastest car on the track until lap 23 when his motor expired. On the
restart, Eric Todd again pulled away followed by rowland Joe Todd,
and now Andy Gill in the hunt. As they crossed the stripe, Eric
claimed his second victory followed by Rowland, J. Todd Gill and
Clint Todd. Following the trophy presentation, Knife country USA in
Lebanon at the Heartland Antique Mall presented a special edition
Bone-handled Bear MGC Bowie Knife with an estimated value of over
$500 to the winner.

The Bomber feature saw 16 take Leo Morgan's green flag as Dusty
Rhoades took the opening lead with last weks winner Mike Piercey
following close behind along with Robert White. Piercey would look
high and low to take control, but Rhoades was holding on strong
until Piercey went by the wayside with a flat tire. On lap 9, Jack
Hamer found the front-stretch wall hard bringing out the red flag.
Hamer was able to walk away unhurt but a damage car. On the restart,
Robert White looked down low several times on the leader Rhoades,
but Dusty hangs on while Tyler Schoen and Carl Weaver were battling
for 3rd place along with Chad Cromer.

On lap 13, White pulled the winning move out of turn 2 and held off
repeated challanges from Rhaodes to claim the win along with a $100
winning bonus from Amsoil. Following the lead duo to the line were
Schoen, Weaver, and Cromer. Special lottery positions were drawn
before the race as 6th place Missy Shaw recieved an extra $50 bonus
for her 6th place position and Jerry Goring recieved an extra $100
from Amsoil for his 7th place spots.

The Mini-Stocks brought down the 20 car field as veteran Leon
Fellers took the opening lead quickly with Larry Andrus following
closely behind as 2-3 wide racing was displayed all night long. Back
in the field John Wagner Jr and Bryan Deatherage were coming through
the pack as Chris Morelock was holding onto position. On lap 9, John
Henson's night ended early with mechnical problems and bunched-up
the field. On the restart Fellers was holding te fast line as Wagner
was trying to overtake him to claim the $500 to win show as
Deatherage had moved into 3rd place as now DeWayne Applegate was on
the move quickly to the front. As the lead duo took the white flag,
Wagner went upstairs in turn 2 and pulled off the winning pass over
the veteran Fellers just nipping him at the stripe with Deatherage,
Morelock, and Applegate at the stripe. A special $100 bonus from
Amsoil was draw and 10th place Larry Andrus claimed that prize.

The 30-car Enduro 100 lap feature paying 1500 to win brought out the
Pure Cars as A& C Construction of Lebanon came aboard that night as
the event sponsor allowing 500 to be paid for 2nd place and all
drivers recieving 50 to start. On the 3 wide start Tim Brown shot up
front from his pole spot with Jerry Wasmer, Dale Roper Jr. , John
Anthony, Brian Monahan, Scott Atkinson following. With Brown setting
a blistering pace, Roper Jr and Wasmer were battling for position
was previous Enduro winner Tony Jackson Jr was moving up in the
field. On lap 17, Greg Brown flipped his car in turn 3 bringing out
the red flag. On the standinbg still start, Tim Brown was about to
hit heavy lapped traffic as Kenny Carroll, Robert White, Rex
McCroskey and others were trying to stay on the lead lap. With the
green displayed, Jackson's car wouldn't start but the green stayed
out. Leader Brown tried for several laps to get around Carroll and
McCroskey and finally made the move around lap 54. Roper had now
moved into 2nd as Wasmer had spun in turn 2 losing positions.
Monahan had a strong run go south as he pulled in around lap 55 as
McCroskey was now the fastest car on the track running down Roper Jr.

With Brown in a zipcode all alone, lap 61 proved to be the turning
point as his car lost power as now McCroskey had overtaken Roper Jr.
and grabbed the lead. McCroskey's front run would be slowed as an
oil fire was shooting underneath taking him out of action giving
Roper the top spot and putting Kenny Carroll in second followed by
Atkinson. Attrition was taking its toll tonight as drivers were
gonig out quickly as the 2 week break from the previous Enduro
wasn't enough. Caroll closed in on Roper around lap 77 and moved to
within 5 cars with Atkinson coming quickly also. With only 14 cars
still running Roper moved upstairs and started to pull away from
Carroll. As the checkered waved, Roper Jr claimed the top spot
followed by Carroll, Atkinson on the lead lap. Jerry Wasmer finished
2 laps down followed by John Anthony 6 laps down as Clinton Betts
won the bonus money for his position.

The Speedway started the evening with a special salute to
Springfield's Larry Phillips. Larry who had touched the lives of all
racers in the Ozarks was honored with a special checkered flag
ceremony as Larry Andrus carried his #75 car around the track as the
capacity crowd stood on its feet. As Andrus brought his final of 2
laps around, all drivers and crews were gathered in turns 3&4
honoring the 5 time Nascar Champion. With Andrus going under the
flagstand, the crowd clapped the final lap in Phillip's honor as the
starters checkered flag waved following a special fireworks salute.

The Speedway will host a special Tractorpull on October 9 with over
10 classes on hand. A&C will be an event sponsor that evening as the
pulls will start at 5PM.

Karnes dominates Malden late models

by David Darnell
MALDEN, Mo. -- Steve Karnes dominated the Late Model division for
his second win in a row Friday night at the Malden Speedway. With
only one caution, on lap 3, Karnes used the final 17 laps to build a
five second lead over second place Todd Hall. The battle for second
was a good one as Hall and Charles LaPlant went side by side for
three whole laps before Hall settled into the position. Scott Riggs
and Kenny Rumble rounded out the top five. Karnes won the heat race
also.

Robby Arnold grabbed the lead from the outside front row and never
looked back in winning the Modified feature. Arnold was easily the
class of an excellent field. The race behind Arnold for 2nd through
7th place was a back and forth affair the whole race. Jared Wagster
took second, followed by Jeff Greene, Mike Francis, and Mike Cooper.
Along with Steve Cole and Scott Weber there were plenty of three
wide battles for position throughout the race. Heat winners were
Cooper, Arnold, and Francis.

The Hobby Stock race went Green-white-checkered without caution and
down to the final curve to decide a winner. Glenn Griffin and Johnny
Houart put on quite a show as they raced the 15 laps side by side
with neither driver able to separate himself from the other. Tim
Winchester snuck in a lap or two for some three wide, but at the
wire Griffin edged Houart by a car length. A hard charging Claudie
Cook took third from Winchester on the final straight. Chuck Tilley
rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Doug Moore and Griffin.

In the Street Stock feature Red Rice came from the back to first to
pick up his first feature win at the speedway. Rice was sited for a
caution early in the race and put at the back of the field. This was
the motivation Rice needed as he shredded the field and was soon on
early leader Paul Reeder's bumper. Reeder got loose out of turn four
on lap 18 and Rice quickly moved to the lead and took the checkered
flag a lap later. Pat Thompson made a run at Rice in turn two on the
final lap but had to settle for second. Scott Wicker, Steve
Forsythe, and Reeder rounded out the top five. Heat winners were
Reeder and Donna Tilley.

Chris and Gene Kelley once again led green to checkered to take the
Cruiser feature at Malden. The streak continues.
