The wait is over; weekly dirt racing makes its return to the Historic
Half Mile track at State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri in 2010!
Jason Bodenhamer and Reid Millard, two familiar names within the racing
community, will handle promotions and race operations at the speedway.
Bodenhamer's name is synonymous with racing.

As the son of legendary area driver and track owner Al Bodenhamer, Jason
has carved out a successful driving career of his own piloting late
models and modifieds on tracks throughout the Midwest and now he will
add the title of promoter to his resume. Reid Millard is a well-known
area late model driver himself and a successful businessman based out of
Jefferson City, Missouri. Bodenhamer stated, "Race fans have longed for
the return of racing to the historic half mile for quite some time and
we are committed to providing fans and drivers a full schedule of weekly
racing and special events."

Weekly racing kicks off on opening night, Friday, April 16th at the
speedway in three race divisions, which include 360 Sprint Cars, Late
Models, and A-Modifieds. A week prior, on Saturday, April 10th, the
track will hold a Test and Tune practice session for all competitors and
is planning a car show for the same day. "We have fourteen regular weeks
scheduled at this time and we are furiously working to schedule various
special events" said Bodenhamer.

He also stated "Our 360 Sprint Car division's rules are based off the
WoW sprint car rules and we are currently working on finalizing rules
for the late models. Modified rules will fall right in line with
standard A-Mod rules in the area with the exception of allowing the use
of aluminum heads with fifty pounds of weight added in front of the
engine mid plate. Local driver Brian 'Ziggy' Ziegler will serve as the
track's official technical inspector."

Bodenhamer is also well known in the racing community for holding the
annual Bodee's Racer's Auction and Trade Show on the fairgrounds in
Sedalia. This year he will tie in several items on the agenda for the
speedway with the annual event, which takes place on the weekend of
January 30-31, 2010. "We will have our rules, registration forms, and
schedule of events ready to go by the time the auction comes around"
stated Bodenhamer.

Karen Darling will serve as official scorer for the speedway; Darling
brings with her over thirty-five years experience scoring race events.
Hershel Thompson will handle the flag stand at the speedway, like
Darling, Thompson has well over thirty years of experience at various
speedways serving as flag man. Glenn Portzen will take care of track
preparation at the speedway. Additional track personnel are currently
being lined up for the speedway.

The speedway will use a passing-points system and straight up pill draw
to set lineups for regular Friday night action. General admission will
be $12 with special discounted rates for military personnel, senior
citizens, and children. Regular event start times include hot laps at
6:30 and racing getting underway at 7 P.M.

In the coming weeks, the speedway will make additional announcements
regarding competition rules, an official track Web site, driver
registration, and special events. E-mail PRatSFS@... for additional
information. Potential business partners are urged to call Bodenhamer
during normal business hours at (816) 230-8322 or by calling his mobile
phone at (816) 522-8343 to make business arrangements. Don't miss your
chance to be part of the fast-approaching race season at Sedalia's State
Fair Speedway!

‘A’ Modifieds Returning to L A Raceway in 2010

November 18, 2009

L A Raceway

LaMonte, Missouri

L A Raceway has announced that the A Modifieds will be back on their weekly program in 2010.

“Two years ago we were hit hard financially with over half of our season getting rained out,” said Mike White, L A Raceway Promoter. “That season was ended early and the following year, 2009, the weekly program was reigned in to control expenses”.  That ‘reigning in” took the form of dropping the A Modifieds and adding the B Modifieds to their weekly program.  White continued “While last year did not really go as we had planned, we still accomplished what we had to do to get back on firm financial footing and after having the time to really sit down and review everything, it was surprising to see how well  the changes last year did just that.”

L A Raceway is going into 2010 with a very aggressive, completely new program format that will offer race fans more for their money every week.  The Winged Outlaw Warrior 360 Sprints will explode into action in five scheduled shows this season and the A Modifieds will again join the 305 Sprints, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks and B Modifieds for the 2010 race season schedule.

Not only have changes been made in the weekly race format, but with rule changes especially obvious in the 305 Sprints and Street Stocks, the competition should be awesome as well.  Most of the rule changes were made to encourage growth in car numbers but also to allow local drivers the chance to be more competitive at other tracks if they choose to travel on off nights.   Most of the rules packages are now complete and available on the web at laraceway.com and the A Modifieds rule package is just about finished with the same objective.  That is to have good car numbers at L A Raceway and allow local drivers to be competitive if they choose to travel.

The L A Raceway season will open on Friday April 9 with the USMTS Modifieds and Saturday, April 10 with the Winged Outlaw Warrior 360 Sprints.  The complete schedule will be up soon on laraceway.com.

New Modified Series kicks off in 2010

DGR Promotions

(Bolivar, MO) - A series has been formed to allow racers to run for a regional title as well as a national title.

The all-new Mid America Modified Series has been formed and will provide a clear path for local and regional modified racers to run for a national championship.

"This represents a new direction for modified racing in Missouri and the surrounding area," said Kevin Greven, an owner and general manager in the series. "This new series is a model for sustained growth in our sport, and will offer excellent opportunities for the drivers, track promoters and fans of our sport."

The Mid America Modified Series will consist of a series within actually two other series: The Mid America Modified Series, the United States Racing Association weekly modified racing series and the United States Racing Association national modified racing series.

Drivers will have the ability to run for points and end of season awards for the Mid America Modified Series itself. They will also have the opportunity to run for points and end of season awards for the United States Racing Association weekly program and have the opportunity to run for points and awards for the United States Racing Association national modified program.

"This newly formed Mid America Modified Series symbolizes the style of race cars fans have come to expect, while creating a new level of competition to support the continuance of open modified racing in the Midwest," Greven said.

To accomplish this, the cars in the Mid America Modified Series will be brought under the same rules the United States Racing Association modifieds. This will allow the competitors that run at the many existing USRA sanctioned weekly racing tracks in the area to compete as the series visits what may be their home track.

"Much of the concept for this series came from conversations with racers and promoters that are seeing car counts shrink in this division over the past two years with the addition of the B-mod or Economy Mod class, " said Ernie Leftwitch, competition director for the series. "If a track has found itself in a situation where open modifieds are not a class that they can run in 2010 this gives those drivers an option to go racing".

"There have also been several drivers that have expressed an interest in series racing but because of work reasons, financial reasons or family reasons they cannot follow a national series such as the USMTS," said Leftwitch.

The goal of the Mid America Modified Series is to schedule 20 races in the 2010 season within an area of approximately 150 mile radius of Bolivar Mo. "That area should space out the events enough for the promoters, keep them close enough to travel for the racers and give the fans a great opportunity to see some of the best in the Midwest on several occasions in 2010," said Greven.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks and to learn more about the series as it develops go to www.midamericamodifieds.com

Long bags Pepsi Nationals prelim at Scotland County

Memphis, MO - November 07, 2009
By: RL Promotions

Fans were treated to a picture perfect night Friday as the Scotland County Speedway hosted the first of two days comprising the Pepsi Memphis Nationals. And for fans and competitors alike, the racing surface at 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval was flawless despite the track sitting dormant the entire 2009 season prior to Friday's big event.

USRA Hobby Stocks got the main event action going, and Chris Hovden kept his career-best season going by topping the 15-lap feature race. The 2009 USRA Hobby Stock National Champion made the long tow from Cresco, Iowa, pay off as he came from the 12th starting position to claim the checkered flag Friday night.

Hovden survived several late-race caution flags, including one with four laps to go that found second-, third- and fourth-place running Scott Spilde, Clayton Crump and Jason McDaniel piling up in turn 1.

Andrew Hustead held on for the runner-up finish, holding off 19th-starting Todd Reitzler. Spilde rebounded to claim the fourth spot with Steve Allen rounding out the top-5 finishers.

In the USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mod main event, Jeoff Olson secured the lead on lap 3 and built a big advantage over the chasing pack during the next six laps. The yellow flag waved with seven laps to go, wiping out Olson's advantage. After the restart, Colter Deutsch shot from fourth to second during the first orbit, then blasted ahead of Olson one lap later.

Deutsch, who traveled more than seven hours from his hometown of Ellsworth, Minn., went unchallenged the rest of the way to claim the victory. Olson held on for second, with Brad Iverson coming home third. Veteran Bert McDaniel was fourth and Bobby Penney crossed beneath the checkered flag in fifth.

Nathan Wood's chance at one win ended earlier in the program when the rearend of his machine broke while running up front in the USRA Hobby Stock main event. Wood, however, polished off what might have been his second win of the night when he bested Matt Greiner in a thrilling 20-lap USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car feature race.

Wood came from the 12th starting spot to garner the winner's share of the prize money while Greiner wound up right where he started in second place. Kurt Krauskopf finished a close third, Dave Warth claimed the fourth position and Mike Van Genderen held on for a fifth-place paycheck.

The USRA Modifieds brought the most entries to the opening night of the Pepsi Memphis Nationals, and they delivered an action-packed 25-lap feature to close the curtain on the evening's races. Michael Long of Quincy, Ill., is no stranger to the Scotland County Speedway, and he got reacquainted with victory lane after leading every lap of Friday night's feature.

Long disposed of polesitter Mark Schulte at the drop of the green flag. Meanwhile, Ryan Gustin quickly moved from his third row starting spot to take over second place on the fourth lap but could not close the gap between himself and Long.

A caution flag midway through the race gave Gustin the break he needed. Following Long into the first turn after the restart, Gustin ducked underneath the leader as they raced down the back-stretch. Long, however, held his ground and edged back in front of Gustin as they headed back to the flagstand then began to stretch his lead once again while Gustin searched high and low on the racing surface for a faster line.

Long continued unchallenged the rest of the way while Gustin settled for the runner-up honors. Zack VanderBeek was impressive in his first night out in a brand new 2010 Skyrocket Chassis as he raced from 18th on the starting grid to third at the finish line. Scott Dickey grabbed the fourth spot as he held off Donovan Lodge at the stripe.

The Pepsi Memphis Nationals continues on Saturday, and the weatherman has assured race fans of another beautiful sunshine-filled day for racing. Pit gates open at 12:00 with grandstand gates swinging open at 2:00 and the first heat race taking the green flag at 4:00. Outlaw Hobbys will also be on the racing card on Saturday.

A complete program is on tap. All drivers will draw heat race starting positions, with top qualifiers re-drawing for feature race starting positions.
