Official Press Release:
For Media and Web Use

Springfield Raceway
2110 N.Westgate
Springfield, Mo.
June 2, 2004

Submitted By High Gear Entertainment,

Friday Night June 4, 2004

It will be the first planned special of the season this coming weekend at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo. Friday night, the track will be packed with an unusual amount of horsepower as the Show Me Racin Series will be the center stage event of the evening. Also racing for the night will be the Factory Stocks, Bombers, Mini Stocks, and Open Mini Stocks qualifing for their Added money features Saturday night.
Close to 30 IMCA Late Models are expected with possible entries from as far away as Iowa. Locals include many drivers from the Springfield, Aurora, Republic, Cape Fair and Crane area. Of the entries will be the 2003 IMCA National Champion Justin Wells as he looks for another succesful year of racing.
2003 was Well's first year in chasing points hard, it was accomplished in a chassis that was designed and perfected by another local racer James Ince formerly of Fordland, Mo. Inces passion and knowledge took him from the grass roots of Midwest racing and adapted him into a much faster pace of life in the NASCAR series in just a few short years. Never forgetting his love of the dirt, Ince returned home long enough in the late months of 2002 to build a shop and build a handfull of cars for his local friends. In his first try at his own design his cars would prove their selves at a National level with Wells behind the wheelpicking up a Championship.
With 35 starts in 2003 Wells won 13 of his A Features. His total cash and contengencies with IMCA was around the 10 thousand dollar mark for his racing efforts. 2004 is looking good so far also, as he starts race number 15 this weekend and already has 8 wins to his credit. Luckily for me I have started out far better in the first of the year than last stated Justin, but the competition seems stiffer each week.
Driving for Tin Benders Body Shop, Advance Tire, B&P Discount Groceries, and Top Notch Hardwood Floor, Wells will be in a GRT. He admitted he is looking forward to this weekend. On his heels will be local racing legend and one of Justins best friends, Ken Essary of Cape Fair, Mo. in a Jim Buzzard powered GRT race car also. Essary has a few Feature notches this season also with 6 wins of his 14 starts. Essary also brings the savy of 3 decades of racing, in his years he has over 750 wins and will provide the power to uproot Wells of his win if possible.
More ammo for the show will include Kevin Henson in a strong running Bullet chassis from Aurora,Mo. with Cartoons Oyster Bar and Grill along as his Corporate sponsor, Rick Lebow will be strapped into a Rayburn car with Stringer Racing helping out as a sponsor for the year. Mark Bourey of Monett will be a team player for B&P Discount Groceries in his number 30 car, another Aurora native will be Darren Barton in the hard charging Subway, Larry Shaw chassis entry. Burl Woods of Springfield will field the same winning car that Ince built last season on it's sides will be the long famous sponsorship of Childs Tire. Woods purchased the car from Well's, and has been seeing improvement each week in his finishes.
Other names will include Cecil Brown and Jim Fulp of Aurora, Glen and Jeremy Yarborough of the Joplin, Mo. area.Roger Wilson Jenkins, Mo.,Chris Hawkins of Neosho, Jim Greenway Galena, Mo. and many more.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with Hot Laps scheduled for 6:30 p.m. the first race of the evening will be at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday Night June 5, 2004

The second night of action at the Springfield Raceway will be as big as the first. In competition that night will be a full field of racers. Over 100 cars should be on hand as the Modifieds and Outlaw Sportsmans will run a full show with Extended Features and Added money in the other classes.
Friday nights heat race action will set the field for the 25 Lap A Features. In the Open Mini Stock class it will guarentee door to door action as it has over the last few weeks. The top 5 srivers are all within just a few points of each other.
The Factory Stock class should bring the fans off their seats as Dylan Keepper looks for another win in his 69 Chevelle painted to look like a Fairgrounds Speedway car of days past with the number 75 in bold blue numbers.
Mini Stocks will be 4 cylinder racing at high revolutions. Larry Andrus has a way of making every lap seem like the last lap, but can he do it for 25 laps with that much competition behind him?
The Bombers will host another strong field of cars, in them will be Sheldon Roberts and Darren Woody who are locked in points with 45 each.Woody has just came onto the scene over the last couple of weeks but has came in force.
Modified action could be different this weekend as J.D. Kelley looks for number 3 in a row in his U.S. Automotive car. His hope would be for names like Jessee Stovall, Wayne Graybeal, Ryan Stayce, Mike Riedle and many others would not be there. It should bring excitement at high speeds.
In the Outlaw Sportsman It's Dean Bell leading the way, right to his rear bumper is Rylan Long attached followed by Tommy Steele. Fourth is Ronn Long followed by Nathan Gold and Ken Scott in Points.
