MSJ Cross Country Unofficial Summer Practice Dates   Message List

To:  MSJ Cross Country Team Members (new and current)
 
Many of you expressed interest in getting into shape over the summer so that you can maximize your success in Cross Country in the Fall.  Building an aerobic base and a strong core will make a significant difference in the results that you achieve, and also help you to avoid injuries.  We have set up some additional unofficial summer practices to assist you, and you are encouraged (but not required) to attend.  It is also an opportunity to meet new team mates.
 
There is no cost, but you must have all required paperwork submitted before you are allowed to practice.  These items are located at:  http://www.msjhs.org/sports/sports.html
Please get them completed (with no exceptions) and turn them into a coach as you show up to your first attended practice.
Practice dates and times are listed below.

7/8 3 pm
7/9 10 am
7/10 3 pm
7/14 10 am
7/15 3 pm
7/16 10 am
7/17 3 pm

We will meet by the gym, and you might want to bring your own water if the temperature is warm.  A typical practice would be for 60 to 90 minutes and would include:
1) Warmup run
2) Stretching
3) Core/weight work
4) Running workouts based on a) Varsity and potential varsity; b) Junior Varsity and Frosh/Soph.  Each week would also include one longer run, and would build in distance over time
 
Coach Marden has already announced unofficial early season training starting Tuesday, August 4th at 10 am with additional dates to be communicated.
 
If you have not already done so, please be aware that e-mail communication and notifications from coaches happens through: missionXC@yahoogroups.com   In order to subscribe, you need to send an e-mail to:  MIssionXC-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and ask that you be added to the distribution.  This is an important step to ensure that you are knowledgeable about practices, meets, etc.
 
Many of you are consistently working out on your own, and your hard work will bring good rewards.
