Twins vs. Seattle: 7:10 p.m., Metrodome, FSN, WCCO
(830-AM)
By La Velle E. Neal III
Which right fielder would you rather have, the Twins'
Jacque Jones or Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki? Jones has an
higher batting average (.304 to .296) more power (six
homers to one) and has stolen more bases (seven to
six). So when will Jones have martinis and sushi named
after him?
Twins officials met Monday to discuss returning start
times of home games to 7:05 p.m., 6:05 p.m., 1:05
p.m., and 12:05 p.m. Under the Victory Sports One
model, start times had been 10 minutes after the hour.
But there's no more Victory. . . . Carlos Silva has a
chance to be the first Twin to start 6-0 since Brad
Radke did in 2001. . . . Radke has received two runs
of support over his past three outings. . . . The
Twins have called up infielder Alex Prieto from Class
AAA Rochester to replace Nick Punto, who will be
placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a
strained right oblique muscle.
Mariners reliever Eddie Guardado sabotaged the
clothing of some of his former Twins teammates last
week and expects retaliation this week. "I have a
couple other pranks up my sleeve before I leave
there," Guardado told the Seattle Times. . . .
Mariners righthander J.J. Putz has given up one hit in
6 1/3 innings out of the bullpen. . . . Mariners
hitting coach Paul Molitor spent Monday at his annual
charity golf tournament in Stillwater.
