Charlsie Donnelly found out last Friday that she was chosen as the winner of the Road Bike Action Magazine $10,000 sponsorship contest.  One man and one woman were chosen from all the applicants.  The contest was looking for a cyclists who has overcome challenges, yet persevered in their pursuit of improving as a cyclist.  Who better to win this contest than Charlsie?  When she asked me what she should write, I told her to simply tell her story in her own words.  She wrote what amounted to a seven page manuscript.  It was a very moving account of her life since her initial cancer diagnosis at the age of eleven.  The particulars of the contest are in the link I have attached:

She and I will fly out to Las Vegas on Tuesday, September 26, for a 3 day visit to Interbike.  She has some press conferences, official acceptance appearances, and some “meet and greet” with the stars of cycling.  One of her press conferences is with Bob Roll!!!!  I get to play chaperone / paparazzi!  It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it!!!  Just in case the link doesn’t work, this is what she has won:
