Team Terry Wins In New England Team Terry Race Report: Sturbridge Road Race/Palmer Road Race, April 28-29, 2007 Team Terry sent a full team to two New England races this past weekend. The Sturbridge Road Race was on Saturday and consisted of a 7 mile lap with a few hills. Coming off a win last weekend in Western New York, the team was anxious to see what it could do against the New England competition. The first two laps were fairly quiet with the peloton feeling out the course. At the start of the third lap, Team Terry lit up the action with an attack across the start finish stretch. This woke up the peleton and the girls in pink were off to a fast and eventful rest of the race. Team Terry attacked and counter attacked, covered moves by other teams and eventually got Ann Hansgate off the front in a two man breakaway on the last lap. Ann and her counterpart put in an incredible effort, with Ann eventually dropping her breakaway partner, but the peloton was eager and reeled her back in. The race came down to a pack sprint and the Terry girls all rode in strong with three girls in the top 15. "Training the Right Stuff at the Right Time" Endurance or aerobic fitness is a big part of winter training and when early spring comes, ride distances increase until they are as long as the longest race or event. There is no physiological reason for any master athlete who has been riding for at least 5 years* and whose longest race is 40 km/25 miles (about 1:0) to be out for 40-50 miles (3-4 hours). More times than not, the limiter is not endurance but rather muscular endurance and anaerobic fitness. To read the rest of this great tip, go to: ARE YOU AN INFORMATION JUNKIE? "I looked down at my legs. They were bright red and they had chunks of ice everywhere. Just that one glance terrified me. I'd never seen my body look like that and I refused to look down after that."
