Thank you to everyone who came to the TVC annual meeting and voted for the race payout! The payout drew a lot of great riders we've never seen before!
Thank you to everyone who raced, helped, and cheered us on at the races yesterday! Our efforts resulted in $83.00 to start the prize donations for 2007!
We started out in the morning with very chilly, drizzly weather for the cat 3/4 race....6 Mission in motion, Shelley, Sarah, Marsha, Tami, Carrie, Janie and 6 others.
Shelley did an awesome job coaching us on what to do and when to do it! Everyone's attacks were beautifully executed into the wind and on the climbs and out to the side to make sure no one could easily jump on! The other riders were forced to work hard to chase each attack. Eventually, a break succeeded including Shelley and Sarah with only one other rider, Amy. We held back our group until a good 2 min. gap was formed and began making attacks on the remaining riders (Amoroso, Vela Bella, AG Edwards, and Maria) After another excellent attack by Tami, I countered immediately along the windy flat and up the hill and was able to stay away for the rest of the race finishing 4th while Shelley & Sarah took 1 & 2 working over their opponent; and Tami, Carrie and Janie battled amazingly up the finish climb for 5,6, and 8th! Awesome job everyone!
The sunshine came out in the afternoon for out second race, unfortunately, not as many riders for the Open race, but it gave us some excellent strategic practice as there were four Mim riders and only two others. I had a very tough time hanging on as Amy chased down the attacks, and just when I was whooped from catching back on, Shelley pointed for me to attack (thanks a lot Shelley! :) actually, I am really glad she did, because I ended up staying off the front for 5 laps even though I felt so shot that I was ready to pack it in before the attack! Amy reeled me back in after those 5 long laps of torture and had nothing left to respond to Margaret's final attack at 2 laps to go! Margaret soloed away for the win, with Shelley- 2, Sarah, 3 and myself 4th, Amy 5th and Maureen -6th.
Wow, am I feeling it today, every muscle hurts, I broke out in a sweat just climbing the stairs. Much needed training....thank you to everyone for your support!
