Thank you to Ron & Jeanette Craige for organizing another excellent Applefest Road Race!
Perfect weather combined with a great course, volunteers, racers, food and drink made for a great way to start the weekend!

Congratulations to TVC junior Adam Farabaugh, who not only won the junior category, but also won the Citizen's race with a time of 34:59!  Congratulations to another TVC junior Erik Wagner for his 2nd place finish in the juniors and 7th place overall !  It will be interesting to watch these two progress next year!

The 26 mile road race stayed together until the first KOM climb which formed several separate groups.
I managed to chase onto a nice group of 4 riders and we continued to pick up some stragglers until we had a group of 12.  Ruud Racing Team members, Wade Hernisey, Tim Singler, Joe Walker, Mike Meier, Kurt Woodruff, Mike Morgan, TVC's- Todd Kapaghian, some Pa guys, Drew, Tom, Mark, and Occ's Eddie Luban.

My goal was to break the course record for the women since I missed it by only 3 seconds last year, so I did what I could to keep the pace high early on.  I accidentally got a little too close to the yellow line in one section and was caught in what felt like rumble strips (actually felt like I was running a jackhammer!)  yikes!  One of the PA guys made an attack prior to the 3rd kom which was too quick for my legs to respond.  I chased for 10 minutes keeping them in sight until the top of the kom.  Their momentum down the other side was unmatchable :)
I glanced at my computer trying to calculate how much time I needed to break the record and went into TT mode for the final stretch, rounded the corner and sprinted up to the finish lined with awesome supporters cheering everyone on!
Congratulations to Mission in Motion's Tami Lewis, who in her 1st year of racing came in 3rd place in the 26 mile race!  Watch out for Tami next year!  Her TT times keep her winning those triathlons!
This is by far the most FUN race of the entire year since the season is winding down, the pressure is off, and there are so many great people to socialize with afterwards.

Attached are results which can also be found on bikereg.com, look for September 9th, Applefest Road Races.

Good luck to everyone moving into the cyclocross season!
