FYI....see note below from Sandy Babuka about the upcoming inaugural Salt Springs Triathlon in Montrose, PA on Sunday, September 3, 2006. The race offers both a Sprint (7AM) and Olympic distance (7:30AM) triathlon; all proceeds will go towards repairing flood damage at Salt Springs State Park near Montrose (Franklin Township).
Please note that pre-registration fees are good through today, Aug 16, so if you're interested, go to the race website at this link and get the app... Friends of Salt Springs State Park --if you are a USAT member, the fee is $55 if postmarked today and $65 if you are not. There will also be a tent at the Chris Thater race on August 27, where you can also register. There is NO race-day registration. We have received USAT sanctioning late for our event from one hurdle or another...the worst of which was the flood that took out much of our park and the main bridge on Route 29 for our bike leg. But...we overcame these obstacles and are putting everything in place...the race will go on!!
Please review the attached material and let me know if there is any way that you can get the word out to your runners. We have early registration closing on the 16th, but hopefully athletes will continue to sign on up unto the Chris Thater race of which we will have a tent for registration.
We are sanctioned for 75 teams, single or in 3's, and are running the Sprint and Olympic races with prize awards. There probably won't be much (if any) monetary award as this takes early application of which we just couldn't do.
