Amgen Tour of California Lifestyle Festivals

There's no better place to experience the spectacle of an international professional cycling road race than a finish city venue. Here is where cycling enthusiasts of all ages immerse themselves in the excitement of a world-class sporting event, celebrate a healthy lifestyle and take in the unique sights, sounds and flavors of the host city communities.

Amgen Tour of California's Lifestyle Festivals will be the place to be come February '06. Each finish city will host a free race-day festival, featuring a health & fitness expo, cancer awareness education, cycling gear, family activities, bike safety, food, entertainment and more!

Beginning in San Francisco's scenic Embarcadero Waterfront during the traditional race prologue, Amgen Tour of California's Lifestyle Festivals will be rolling along with the cyclists as they wind their way down the spectacular California coast.

Plan to come early and stay late at one or more of Amgen Tour of California's Lifestyle Festivals–there will be plenty to see and do for the entire family, culminating in the explosive sprint to the finish and the traditional awards ceremony, where jerseys will be presented to the day's top riders and overall race leader.

Sprinting: Think Fast. Train Fast. Be Fast!

It is truly a fantastic sight to see Erik Zabel, Baden Cooke or Robbie McEwen charge for the finish line. They are "fast" personified.

Some of us dream about sprinting like some of the greats in a final mass sprint, while others work hard to break up the field to avoid the finish line frenzy. Whatever the case, if you're a bike racer, it's inevitable...you are going to have to sprint!

Here are a few things to help you optimize your sprint workout:
