I have been looking at the roster to see what I come up with..and
here would be my guess for the opening day roster set....please
comment.

Podsednick
Jenkins Grieve/Clark

Counsell ^ Spivey

Helms < > Overbay/Ginter
^
Moeller

Looking at this I would think a line up of:

Podsenick
Overbay/Ginter
Spivey
Jenkins
Helms
Grieve/Clark
Moeller
Counsell

Notes:
Podsednick is the most likely lead off candidate. However, if the
offense is lacking producers and Counsell is hitting like his days of
old (ie an OBP of .360 or higher) I could see moving Scott down to #2
or even #3. I think he could hit 15 or so HRs in a year if he needed
too. He could be a #3 hitter in the way Randy Winn was for the Devil
Rays a couple years ago.

Overbay and Ginter: This is a platoon of habit (Lefties hitting
against RH pitching and righties hitting against LF pitching) rather
then proven numbers. Because in all honesty neither have the numbers
that pair them up as ideal platoon players (though both have not had
enough MLB ABs to pick up obvious trends yet.) However, you want to
work both in the lineup. As for hitting #2..both handle the bat ok
and will have an OBP of .350 or higher.

Spivey: Need a RH hitter here in front of Jenkins. He could hit .270
20 85 30 in the #3 hole.

Jenkins: Only legit big bat...you need for him to be healthy and
force pitchers to give fast balls to both Spivey and Helms.

Helms: Getting better....will never hit for a high average but a .260
30 90 campaign is possible. He is always going to look stiff at 3B,
but he is passable.

Grieves/Clark: Grieves' power number take a plummet against LHP and
Clark needs the ABs..plus Clark is a much better outfielder
defensively then Ben. You could actually muster a decent platoon
here...with Grieves hitting .270 15 65 and Clark hitting .280 6 35.

Moeller Is a good offensive catcher. I think he will help out.
Arizona traded him not because they needed to move him, but because
they had Hammock.

Counsell: Only man left. I send Hall back down to AAA to get some
more reps. His OBP was miserable ..something like .296. He needs to
learn how to take a walk and not K. They have Counsell...they aren't
going to win anything this year...give Hall another couple months in
AAA to work out some kinks...then let him come up and win the job and
trade Counsell to a contender looking for Bench help.

The Brewers entered the offseason knowing they need to be better in the late innings in 2008. First off, they were outscored by 65 runs over the seventh,...

I hope Chris Capuano does better this season. I predict that Randy Choate won't last very long with the Brewers. He is not that great of a pitcher. He...
