Oft-injured outfielder Jeffrey Hammonds went on the 15-day disabled
list on April 15 -- his eighth trip to the DL -- with a sprained
right ankle. He was hurt April 14 when he jammed his ankle into the
wall in right-center field while trying to rob St. Louis' Orlando
Palmeiro of a home run. "It's almost worse than a break," said
manager Ned Yost. "It's a tough injury." Outfielder Brady Clark, who
was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis, and John Vander Wal will
platoon in right field while Hammonds is out.
