News and Notes
-RF Jeffrey Hammonds sat out the series against the Pirates (4/8-10)
with a hyperextended left elbow and may miss the weekend series in
Arizona.
-Manager Ned Yost notched his first win on April 8 following six
straight losses. "It does feel good to finally win," Yost said. "You
want to get on a roll sooner or later, but you've got to win that
first game." The Brewers have 112 losses since the start of last
season, but that didn't keep them from toasting Yost with champagne.
They just hope it doesn't take another seven games to win again.
-The Brewers sent outright the contract of OF Jason Conti to Triple-A
Indianapolis on April 9. "We were very nervous he wouldn't make it
(through waivers)," manager Ned Yost told the Milwaukee Journal
Sentinel. "We thought Cincinnati would claim him, but we got him
through. He's a great kid and I'd like to see him get a chance in the
big leagues, but, selfishly, I want him to stay with us."
