News and Notes
-The Brewers on April 3 signed INF Lee Stevens and RHP Dan Kolb to
minor league contracts and assigned them to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Stevens split last season between Montreal and Cleveland,
batting .204 with 15 home runs and 57 RBI in 166 games. He was
released by the Devil Rays on March 18. Kolb spent last season in the
minor leagues and Texas, where he was 3-6 with a 4.22 ERA in 34
relief appearances.
-LF Geoff Jenkins, who's been out since March 1 with a bone bruise
near his left wrist, will start a rehab assignment with Double-A
Huntsville on April 3, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. He
might rejoin the Brewers next week. "My wrist feels a lot better,"
Jenkins said after taking swings in the batting cage before the April
2 game at St. Louis. "It still takes a little while to get loose, but
once it's loose I'm fine. The big difference between now and a few
weeks ago is the day after. A couple weeks ago, I'd take a bunch of
swings and the next day it would be barking at me." OF Brady Clark
(groin) will begin a rehab stint with Triple-A Indianapolis.
