Erubiel Durazo had a solo homer, his first hit of the spring, helping
the Oakland Athletics beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-6 in 10 innings
Wednesday.
Durazo, acquired from Arizona in a four-team deal at the winter
meetings, had been 0-for-7 with six walks before his leadoff homer in
the fourth off Curtis Leskanic.
Jeremy Brown, a former Alabama star drafted last June, hit a two-run
homer off Pedro Liriano in the 10th.
Oakland, which has won four straight to improve to 6-1, had beaten
the Brewers last week on a hit by former No. 1 draft pick Bobby
Crosby.
"I love it," manager Ken Macha said. "You bring young kids to camp to
see what they can do. For him and Bobby Crosby, as far as young guys
go, those two are the highlight of camp."
Sparked by John Vander Wal's solo homer and Scott Podsednik's RBI
triple, the Brewers led 3-1 after six innings. David Manning walked
four in the seventh as the A's scored three times to take a 4-3 lead.
Oakland added two runs in the eighth, capitalizing on two errors by
shortstop Manny Alexander.
Milwaukee tied the game in the ninth on Bill Hall's RBI double.
