Nobody's attendance fell more dramatically than Milwaukee's last
season, so here go the Brewers again opening camp with another new
general manager and another new manager. Given GM Doug Melvin's track
record, better things should be in store eventually in Milwaukee. The
bad news for new manager Ned Yost, though, is that the better things
won't arrive in time for the Brewers to avoid a club-record 11th
consecutive losing season. There still isn't much in the cupboards
here, other than starting pitcher Ben Sheets. New acquisitions Royce
Clayton (photo) (shortstop) and John Vander Wal (outfield) will add
some professionalism, but the Brewers are still lacking in most
areas.
