The Devil Rays for some reason are still shopping 3B Aubury Huff,
RHRP Danys Baez and SS Julio Lugo and also OF Jose Cruz Jr. and C
Tolby Hall.
The Brewers could use Baez as the closer (3 million salary for 05)
Aubury Huff (3 million 05) is a left handed bat but near a .300
hitter 100 run guy 30 HR hitter and 100 rbi guy.
The sleeper here is SS Julio Lugo (2 million 05) who had a great
year for TB in 2004 but they have RC BJ Upton to replace Lugo. Julio
has speed, good OBP and can hit. also his D is above avg.
With that said, I can only see the Brewers giving some of their non
tier A prospect for any, of these guys. maybe not in Lugo.
SS options are thin- SS Barry Larkin may be a good filler for cheap
but as a platoon guy. Rich Aurillia is still out there, Alex
Gonzalez and few few other cheaper possibilities.
Center field depth OF David Dellucci, Tom Goodwin, Doug Glanville
are around Dellucci had a great year with the Rangers last season
but is looking for 2 million a season for over 3 years.
just bring lite to other holes, JJ Hardy is not MLB ready not if he
hit nothing in winter ball.
I heard a rumor (emphasis on rumor) that the Brewers are interested
in Ugueth Urbina, who's expendable in Detroit after they signed
Percival. That according to a radio station up here in Minnesota.
