Subject: Fabregas Hints He May Switch Arsenal For Milan

The Spanish star spoke of all things Italy and revealed that the Rossoneri would be his first choice in the peninsula, as they play the best football...

Milan have been linked with Cesc Fabregas several times in the past and the Spaniard does not hide that a move to Italys fashion capital would be attractive, should he decide to quit Arsenal.
I would undoubtedly pick the Rossoneri, he confessed to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
I think they are the Italian side that play the best football. I mean, there are several strong outfits in Serie A, such as Inter, Juventus and Roma, but they seem too much dependent on their star players.
They run into trouble as soon as these are out injured. On the other hand, Milan lean on the group and their organization. I feel this is a winning mentality and a philosophy that I approve of.
Spain were crowned European champions this summer and the 21-year-old buried the winning spot-kick that knocked out Italy in the quarter-finals.
I think we met the Azzurri too early, he smiled, I would have preferred to face them in the final.
Either way, I believe Italian fans can be happy: you lifted the World Cup and we just hoisted the European trophy. Do you fancy a swap?

In a recent interview, Milans Brazilian maestro Kaka gave a brief glimpse of his future with Milan and life after football.

Kaka is undoubtedly one of the greatest players ever to grace a football pitch and he has proven this for a number of years.

The 26-year-old has made 171 appearances for the Rossoneri and scored 57 times since joining them from Sao Paolo back in 2003. He has gone on to become one of the most influential playmakers not just in Serie A but at international level with A Seleo.

Recently, in an interview with Brazilian magazine Time, Kaka spoke about what the future holds for him, and for his club.

The Brazilian is a devout evangelical Christian, who loves the Bible and everything relating to religion. In terms of his future after football, Kaka stated, I do not know whether or not I will become an evangelical pastor, Ill have to wait and see what happens.

By making such comments, the Milan 'Number 22' did not want to make it sound as if he was considering a move away from the game, as he went on to discuss some of his plans for the immediate future with the club.

I have won a lot at Milan and I plan to win more, he said.

For now, though, I would like the opportunity to return to play at the San Paolo stadium in Naples, as that is a special place for me, he concluded.

The future is bright for Kaka, who seems to be a man destined to succeed in all areas of life, as with God on his side, he cannot fail.

Milan defender Kakha Kaladze has apologised for criticising referee Stefano Farina last night.

The Rossoneri could only muster a disappointing 2-2 draw with Torino, but the game turned on some contentious refereeing.

While Ronaldinho's penalty appeals were waved away, Torino were awarded a spot-kick for a dubious handball decision against Kaladze, who blasted Farina claiming he doesn't know the rules.

Vice-President Adriano Galliani condemned Kaladze's statement earlier today and now the Georgian international has issued a retraction.

I am very sorry for my reaction on Sunday night, Kaladze told Milan's website.

Without a doubt it was the result of post-match tension. I would like to clarify that I only criticised the referee from a technical point of view.

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has refused to use referee Stefano Farina as a scapegoat for last night's draw against Torino.

Farina awarded a controversial late penalty against Kakha Kaladze, which Alessandro Rosina converted for 2-2, and rejected strong appeals after a foul on Ronaldinho.

Carlo Ancelotti and Kaladze have hit out at Farina, but Galliani has taken a conciliatory approach.

Referees make mistakes, just like players, Coaches and directors, Galliani said.

We can't give our lads alibis and I don't want to comment on the disputed episodes.

I think we could have closed out the game earlier because we had at least three gilt-edged chances to put the points beyond doubt, in addition to the potential penalty.

I will reprimand the players, but I understand that sitting in the stands is different to being on the pitch.

Brazilian starlet Alexandre Pato feels Milan can be pleased with their performance despite dropping points away to Torino.

Carlo Ancelotti's side came from behind to lead 2-1 until Alessandro Rosina levelled with a debatable penalty.

Controversy raged as Ronaldinho also felt he should have had a spot-kick, but referee Stefano Farina waved away appeals.

I'm really disappointed, Pato said. I'm gutted not only because we didn't win, but because the referee didn't give the penalty on Ronaldinho.

We have picked up one point instead of three and have fallen behind in the Scudetto race.

However, we still managed to create many chances. I tried my best but I could only score one goal.

Nonetheless, we played really well this is the road that we need to continue down if we are to win the title.

Milan defender Kakha Kaladze was left fuming after giving away a costly, debatable penalty against Torino.

The Rossoneri battled back from a goal down to lead the Granata 2-1 in Turin last night, but they were denied three crucial points when Alessandro Rosina converted a spot-kick given for handball.

There was absolutely no penalty, the Georgian star raged.

I controlled the ball with my thigh and it hit my hand, it was accidental.

Perhaps the referee doesn't know the rules because if the ball comes off a player's body and hits his hand it isn't a penalty. We all know that.

Last night's slip-up has left Milan three points behind city rivals Inter with a testing trip to Palermo looming next weekend.

EMOTIONS OF A FORMER PLAYER

11/20/2008 5:00:00 PM

Before the afternoon training session, Christian Abbiati talked about Sunday's game against Torino, a team he played in for one season, and to whose stadium he will make a return with the Milan shirt.

(ON THE ARCHIVE PHOTO: CHRISTIAN ABBIATI DURING TRAINING)
MILANELLO - Here are the declarations made exclusively to Milan Channel by Christian Abbiati today at Milanello before the afternoon training:
Christian, Sunday night there's Torino-Milan, what feelings do you have as a former Granata?
"I had a nice season at Torino, I can't deny I am a bit excited, but I can say it's an important match to continue the run of results we are having."
President Cairo praised your season with the Granata when talking to Milan Channel's microphones.
"I thank president Cairo for the faith he had in me and for giving me the opportunity to play for his team, but then I wasn't able to say and I was disappointed about that."
Is there any player you fear in particular?
"Toro have a good group, they've been unlucky, I think they are missing a few points in the standings. I don't fear anyone particularly, but they have a great player in Rosina. What worries me most is their desire for revenge which could be an important weapon. Against big teams they have always played strong formations. Certainly it won't be an easy game."
You have said that, considering the past games between Torino and Milan, it's better to have Clarence Seedorf on your side.
"Seedorf is a great champion, he has shown it in these years. His great strength is also in his character."
Will you watch Inter-Juventus on Saturday?
"I won't watch it because it could take energies away ahead of Sunday's match against Torino, I will know the result afterwards."

Ukrainian newspapers claim that Milan stars Andriy Shevchenko and Kakha Kaladze will be questioned during investigations into the President's poisoning.

President Viktor Yushchenko claimed he was poisoned at a dinner in September 2004 and prosecutors are seeking information on businessman Tamaz Tsintsabidze, who was present at that event.

According to newspaper Kommersant, the Prosecutor's Office is seeking testimony from former Dynamo Kiev players who may have had some connection with Tsintsabidze.

Shevchenko and Kaladze are said to be lined up for an interview, while Andrey Gusin has already given his testimony.

It is all stupid, to my mind, but I can't do anything about it, said Gusin in Kommersant.

They asked me to come and I did. Evidently there's no logic in the move. The Prosecutor's Office seems to have gone off the rails.

AC Milan wing-back Gianluca Zambrotta would prefer the super clash between Juventus and Inter to end in a draw this Saturday, so his side can bounce back into top place by beating Torino the following day...

There will be huge interest in the summit of Italian football thisweekend when Milan take on Torino and Internazionale host Juventus.

The Rossoneri could return to the top of Serie A as long as they win in Turin against the Granata and the Nerazzurri fail to beat the Old Lady.

This is all possible for Zambrotta who believes that his team are going through an excellent moment of form.

"We're doing well, going through a very good period," declared the former Juventus and Barcelona player. "Let's hope to continue like this, because this is the path which must accompany us until the end.

"We know that no game is easy, especially away from home against a tough team like Torino. However I hope that on Saturday evening it ends in a draw between Inter and Juventus.

"This way, a win for us on Sunday will allow us to reach the top spot, which is what we want."

Zambrotta anticipates a very hard-fought league in Serie A this year, with many teams in the top positions separated by very few points.

"There are many teams who are fighting for the top places in the standings," he continued. "It's a nice small group and it will not be easy until the end."

Former Juventus and Torino hardman Pasquale Bruno has exclusively told Goal.com that he believes Napoli's Fabiano Santacroce will become one of Italy’s greatest ever defenders, and is in the same category as Paolo Maldini, Fabio Cannavaro and Alessandro Nesta.

Bruno was one of Serie A’s most feared defenders during the 1980s and early 90s due to his uncompromising style which saw him nicknamed ‘The Animal’.

The ex-stopper has never been one to hold back an opinion, and he has exclusively told Goal.com just what he thinks of Napoli star Santacroce.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation since signing for the Partenopei in January, and already some of the biggest clubs in Italy, Spain and England are said to be eyeing him up, including Milan and Barcelona.

"Santacroce is a player who can play in any league, including the Premier League,” Bruno stated.

“I worship him. He is ‘The Animal’ of the new millennium.

“I would put him in the strongest defence of our country’s football, alongside Cannavaro, Nesta and Maldini. Without doubt.”

Santacroce shone against Maldini's Milan only a few weeks ago, receiving glowing praise in the media following Napoli's 1-0 defeat at San Siro.

Torino coach Gianni De Biasi is likely to be sacked soon if the results don't turn around, and this weekend's fixture against Milan might be his last with the club.

Job security is a non-existent element in football coaching circles, and Torino coach De Biasi knows all about that with his every move being scrutinised by the Torino management and his career at the Granata looking more in jeopardy than ever before.

Club president Urbano Cairo has warned that if the Granata do not perform well consistently, De Biasi could find himself following in the unfortunate footsteps of Stefano Colantuono, Daniele Arrigoni and Beppe Iachini, as Serie A coaches who have lost their jobs this season.

After the victory against Atalanta two weeks ago, the Torino tactician seemed to have avoided the sack, but results have been very inconsistent and this past weekend saw the Granata fall at the hands of Catania.

A hat-trick from Giuseppe Mascara gave Catania a close-fought home win over Torino at the Angelo Massimino stadium, and now De Biasi's future in Turin doesn't look very bright.

According to reports, the fact that Alessandro Rosina and Rolando Bianchi are not playing often enough has made Cairo and the Torino fans unhappy and this is adding to the weight on De Biasi's shoulders.

This weekend's encounter with the Rossoneri will be important for the coach, with Walter Novellino rumoured to be waiting in the wings if the Granata should fail to pick up any points.

Milan boast six players that are on senior international duty tonight with their respective national teams.

Milan is a world class team and part of that package is having players from all over the world who represent their national teams at international level.

Tonight sees a number of friendly internationals and World Cup qualifiers take place, and a number of Rossoneri are duly involved.

Italy take on Greece in Athens tonight, and Milan's very own Genaro Gattuso and Daniele Bonera are currently in the Greek capital preparing for the friendly.

Brazil is also involved in a prestigious friendly against European heavyweights Portugal, and this match-up will have Alexandre Pato and Ricardo Kaka representing the blue and gold of the Selecao.

Marek Jankulovski is another Rossonero on international duty, as the Czech Republic have a World Cup qualifying engagement with San Marino to attend to.

The last of the Milan players involved in tonight's senior matches is Uruguayan youngster Mathias Cardacio, who will represent his country in a friendly against France.

A few of the Milan players are missing out on tonight's encounters through injury; Andrea Pirlo, Gianluca Zambrotta and perhaps even Marco Borriello may have been called up by Marcello Lippi for the Azzurri had they not picked up knocks. The same goes for Ronaldinho, who has been rested by Carlos Dunga.

Barcelona hit-man Lionel Messi believes that Milan star Ronaldinho is the best player in the world, although he admits that Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the Ballon d'Or...

The Argentinean ace is fighting it out with the Manchester United man for the Golden Ball award.

However, he doesn't believe he or the Portuguese star are the best in the world.

Messi thinks it's 'Dinho.

"Ronaldinho is the best player in the world," Messi told L'Equipe.

"And when you play with the best, everything becomes easy. When someone like that leaves a club then the team needs to fight harder to fill the void.

"I don't think my play has changed much; I will always play in the same ways.

"The Ballon d'Or? I would vote for Cristiano Ronaldo as he won important things last year and he deserves it."

Ronaldinho has been outstanding for Milan and he is quickly getting back to the levels which made him such a great player.

Ronaldo is favorite for the Golden Ball award and it seems like he will win it.

While Adriano Galliani is insisting that Milan could land the Fluminense ace next summer, Inter hope to complete a swap deal involving outcast Adriano...

The 24-year-olds future has been grabbing column inches in the peninsula since this summer, when it was reported that the sworn Lombardy enemies were both vying to secure his services.
Last month, the Beneamata allegedly signed a pre-contract agreement with the highly-rated defender to bring him to Appiano Gentile next year.
But the Rossoneri have launched a rumbling campaign in recent weeks to snap up the youngster, with several Brazilian players singing his praises in the Italian media in the hope of swaying his decision.
Silva could be of interest to us, but not in January, the Diavoli Vice President is quoted as saying in the Gazzetta dello Sport today.
He is a great player, but we can only capture him next summer, as we have already brought in two non-EU men this season.
However, the Nerazzurri are confident of leading the way in the race to sign the rising star and are pondering a sensational swap deal, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
LImperatore has apparently agreed to return to his homeland until the end of the season and could join the Rio de Janeiro-based outfit. Via Durini directors will only sanction the move, though, if they get an option on the stopper.

Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has expressed his desire to keep coach Carlo Ancelotti at the club for many years to come

Amid recent reports claiming that Carlo Ancelotti wants to leave the Rossoneri when his current contract expires in 2010, the clubs vice president Adriano Galliani has discussed the situation concerning his clubs coach.

Ancelotti has made it clear that he has a desire to coach an African nation to a World Cup, and he has singled out the Ivory Coast as his preferred destination.

In reference to this, Galliani believes that, I do not think Carlos dream of doing this will just go away, as I feel that he has a strong wish to make history with an African nation in the future.

My dream however, is to keep Ancelotti in Milan for many years, he added.

If we did not separate after the events that occurred in Istanbul in 2005, then I dont see how anything can get in our way now.

Having said this though, if Ancelotti wants to leave, then we are going to have to respect his decision, and commence searching for a successor to coach the club in the future.

We have obviously not made any decisions on anybody as of yet, however we do have some in mind, including Galli, Tassotti, Rjikaard, Gullit and Van Basten, just to name a few, he concluded.

Rumours concerning the future of Ancelotti at Milan will continue to emerge over the coming months; however one can be certain that the Rossoneri will not let go without a fight.

AC Milan vice president, Adriano Galliani spoke about the highly anticipated clash between Inter and Juventus in the Serie A this weekend.

Ahead of one of the matches of the season, Adriano Galliani of Milan has made comment to the contest that sees the league leaders Inter Milan, host the third-placed Juventus at the San Siro.

The Rossoneri are currently sandwiched between the two sides in the standings as they find themselves in second position, just one point adrift of the Nerazzurri and two ahead of the Bianconeri in the race for the Scudetto this season.

When asked about his views of the match in question, Galliani confirmed that he did not know what to hope for most, choosing instead to remark: I just hope that Milan win in Turin.

Milan themselves will travel to the Olimpico in Turin this weekend to face Torino, in a match that they can ill afford to lose, especially if Inter defeat the Old Lady in the corresponding round of matches.

Galliani went on to make reference to the race for the Scudetto, despite still being in the early stages of the campaign. The number one candidate, along with us of course, is undoubtedly Inter.

This puts more pressure on the Rossoneri players, as it places further significance on their contest with Torino this weekend.

Galliani was finally asked about his opinions regarding the Golden Ball award, mostly relating to the chances of Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Inter: To win the award, you have to be an absolute great of the game.

Honestly, I dont know whether it will be he or (Cristiano) Ronaldo, as it is a prize awarded by journalists, so you can never be sure of the final result, he concluded.

Milan travel to Turin to face the Granata this Sunday evening at 20:30 CET.

MILANELLO - Here are the declarations made to Milan Channel by Alexandre Pato at the end of this morning's training session:
Yesterday you had a nice meeting in Rome...
"It was a nice emotion for me to meet president Lula, he's in love with football. I had a chance to get to know him and to understand he is a good person. He talked a lot about football with us. I am very happy to have had the chance to meet the President of my country.
He also told us that he followed the match against Napoli and he told me he's happy for me because he saw that I'm playing well and he's happy I'm at Milan, but my joy was even bigger because for me it was the first time I met him in person."
On Sunday against Lecce you came in as a substitute and did well like at Bergamo...
"Yes, I came in, I did my duty, and I tried to help the team. I managed to give that pass to Ronaldinho which was converted into a goal, even though it was difficult to keep the ball because the pitch was wet. I'm disappointed Lecce managed to draw and we lost two important points. Personally even if I'm on the bench I always try to be ready for coach Ancelotti, I am happy to be in this team, now I have to continue working."
Next Sunday there's the match against Chievo...
"On Sunday we're playing at home. It won't be easy like it isn't easy against any team, but against Chievo we'll have to do our best to get the three points."

Milan legend Paolo Maldini signed on to play another year in order to give half of his wages to charity, according to Tuttosport...

The Italian left-back has been an example and role model to every player in the game, from grass roots learners to some of the world's greats.

He was close to hanging up his boots in the summer but he decided to beat the pain barrier and play on for another season.

Why? To help those who have much less than he has.

Tuttosport claims Il Capitano is giving away 50 percent of his wages to the charity of his choice, and this was the major reason as to why he decided to play another year.

Milan had offered Maldini 1.5 million for the season but the stopper pushed for 3m.

The Rossoneri gave him what he wanted and half of that amount will go towards helping those who need it most.

Over the years the player has donated plenty to good causes and his latest gesture shows just why he has become one of the most admired figures in the game, not just for his football on the pitch, but as a person too.

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani admits he is looking forward to the return of playmaker Andrea Pirlo...

Milan vice president Adriano Galliani has been praising Ronaldinho during the last couple of days, insisting the in-form Brazilian was not a gamble for the Rossoneri.
Indeed, the former Barcelona man has been in stunning form lately, but Galliani also admitted he is awaiting the return of another influential playmaker: Andrea Pirlo.
The Italian international has been injured since September when he sustained a muscle tear, but has resumed training and is expected to be back in the Milan line-up very soon.
"We missed him a lot," declared Galliani. "We did good things during his absence, but fortunately he will be returning soon."
Milan have not lost since Pirlo's forced absence from the team, but many view him as an integral part of Milan's line-up including Galliani himself. His return, however, may cause some selection headaches for Ancelotti as now the coach must drop someone from the starting XI.
Pirlo is not expected to be risked for the encounter with Chievo at the San Siro this weekend, as he still is not match-fit

Milan veteran Pippo Inzaghi has his heart set on winning the UEFA Cup and would like to score 300 goals before he retires.

Milan play Sporting Braga tomorrow night and the 35-year-old insists that while the Rossoneri have prioritised the Scudetto this season they are not ignoring their European commitments.

I realised that the only winners medal missing from my collection is a UEFA Cup one, Inzaghi told Corriere dello Sport. Milan have also never won the trophy.

Inzaghi also revealed another motive why Milan want to get to the Final. It will be held in Istanbul, the scene of their infamous collapse in the 2005 Champions League finale.

I have a score to settle with that city after 2005 against Liverpool. I didnt play. I was not well. I want to take my revenge.

When asked whether he was ready to become the top scorer in the history of European competition, Inzaghi replied: I would have been happy just to have arrived alongside [Andriy] Shevchenko.

Inzaghi and Raul of Real Madrid have scored 63 times in Europe, while Shevchenko has found the net on 61 occasions. Inzaghi also has 293 career goals to his name. I want 300.

Lecce defender Souleymane Diamoutene wants the crowd to do their bit when League leaders Milan visit the Via Del Mare this Sunday.

The Salentini are thirteenth in Serie A and have proved to be quite a handful in their first season back in the top flight for two years.

Milan are a very strong team, composed of many champions. Diamoutene explained. It will be tough but we will play at home and we hope that our fans, who are always noisy, give us a big hand.

We will have to approach the game with serenity and we are looking to play the perfect match because only then can we obtain a positive result.

Lecce beat Milan when they last visited Puglia in 2006 and Diamoutene is confident they can repeat that result especially in light of last Sundays performance against Atalanta.

It was an important test against a good team like Atalanta, we deserved more for the chances that we had, but in the end we need to be happy that we got a point away from home.

Lecce dominated the Orobici on their own turf and were unlucky not to score in a game that ended 0-0.

We didnt concede anything to Atalanta and I am happy with the performance of the defence. We are doing a good job.

The Mali international is also glad that he is back in the side after being overlooked by Coach Mario Beretta.

I am happy to have played two consecutive games against Palermo and Atalanta after a period in which I had been out, said Diamoutene.

I can assure you that in the period that I was not used I acted calmly and as always gave my best in training, patiently awaiting my turn.

It is never easy to be out of the team, the 25-year-old admitted. Every footballer wants to play.

Subject: [milan_ac] Nesta Nearing A Return

Alessandro Nesta is finally close to making a return to football following a lengthy spell on the sidelines and he could make his official comeback as early as next week.
When it comes to injuries there is no footballer who has been as unlucky as AC Milan's Alessandro Nesta. The former Italian international has been hampered by various ailments throughout his career and once again, injury has struck in the early stages of this Serie A season.
However, there's good news finally on the way for the veteran centre back. After just 10 days of light training, Nesta is nearing a return to football and there is a good chance he could play at the San Siro next weekend against Sampdoria.
The former Lazio defender, who is yet to feature in a single minute of football thus far this season, has been running and undertaking light training exercises on the field and workouts in the gym separately from his teammates over the past week or so.
All of these appear to assist his recovery in quick time, as the 32-year-old will return to full training next week.
Team doctor Massimo Manara is pleased with Nestas progress and feels that the signs for Nesta are getting more and more positive by the day. From Monday, he will return to full training with the rest of the team.
Its a welcome return to the Italian topflight for a man that has been hampered by injury at three successive World Cups, including 2006 in Germany, where he missed the final which Italy went on to win.
Nesta has made 227 appearances for Milan since he joined them from Lazio in 2002, scoring five goals for the club.
