Alberto Gilardino is confident that his Milan teammates won't miss
him when they take on Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
The Rossoneri striker is suspended after picking up a booking in the
first leg at the San Siro and hopes the Rossoneri will progress to
the semi-finals despite the 2-2 home draw last week.
"I asked my teammates to take me to the next round – I know they
will play a great game," said Gilardino.
"I am sorry I won't be there. I reviewed the tapes of the game and I
think the referee was very naïve in showing me the yellow card."
The former Parma man, who has struggled to find his best form so
far, was recently paired with a summer move, although the club
denied that he would be leaving the San Siro.
"I don't ever think about what is written in the newspapers. I
talked to Vice-President Adriano Galliani after what happened
recently and he confirmed his trust in me.
"As to Serie A, it was really important for us to win after
Palermo's defeat as now we are closer to them," explained Gilardino,
who netted in the 3-1 win over Empoli on Saturday.
"Scoring is always great, it boosts your morale. My goal, the
performance of the team and the victory were all vital. We had many
opportunities and put in a great performance."
