New Manager at Llanfyllin Town
Mario Laquinta has been named as the new manager of Spar Mid Wales
League side Llanfyllin Town.

Chapman the new Prestiegne boss
Presteigne have unveiled last season's succesful reserve team
manager Karl Chapman as senior manager for the forthcoming Spar Mid
Wales League campaign. Chapman guided the club to the Radnorshire
Cup last term while also steering the Llanandras Park club to a top
four finish in the Watson (Associates) Mid Wales League (South).
Bobby Morgan has been appointed assistant while Barry Williams steps
up to the reserves. Previous manager Robbie Gore is joined by
assistant Dave Beaumont and star performers Tony Richards and Willy
Lindesey in derparting Llanandras Park.

Breeze takes on Pool Reserves
Welshpool Town have named Neil Breeze as the clubs new reserve team
manager. Breeze will work alongside assistant manager Lloyd Chaney.
Previous manager Elwyn Jones has decided to return to running youth
team affairs at Maesydre.

Young footballers bank on winning
The players at Arddleen County Primary School were jumping for joy
when they were presented with a brand new NatWest branded strip for
the forthcoming season. The initiative forms part of an all Wales
programme, which was launched in January 2005 by Natwest in Wales to
strengthen the ties between bank staff and their communities.

Welshpool High School staff defeated Llanfyllin High School staff 4-
1 in a match to unofficially open the new All Weather Pitch at
Welshpool High School and so retain the Workload Agreement Cup.

Machynlleth Ysgol Bro Ddyffi pupils Kelly Fleming and Annalee Hudson
both represented Powys Schools in an U14's football tournament and

Interest grows in junior festival
Junior football teas from across four continets will be competing at
this year's Wales International Soccer Tournament being held over
five days at Blaendolau Fields in Aberystwyth during next week.
It has no wbeen confirmed that satellite channels, including Sky
Sports, will be beaming coverage of the event as far afield as
America and North Africa.
Scouts from several Premiership and Coca-Cola League clubs are also
planning to be at the event, which again promises to be a showpiece
for a host of professional football stars of the future.
Daily entery will cost £3, or £2 concessions at the entrance
gates.

Praise for CWFA under 18s
Last season's successful CWFA U18s side has been praised by the
Central Wales Football Association. Joint team managers Byron Hughes
and Meirion Appleton also received plaudits following back to back
victories over North East Wales FA and a draw and a win over North
Wales Coast FA. Chairman Tegwyn Evans said: "This was the best
behaved U18s squad and they were extremely succesful."
The CWFA U18s squad included: Rob Bloor, Jo Coulson, Jon Jones, Glen
Evans, Wil Thomas (Welspool); Ian Probert, Neil Mitchell, Llyr Lewis
Daniel Williams (Caersws); Jamie Evans, Sam Pickup (Llanymynech);
Mark Davies, Mike Collister, Neil Prescott (TNS); Sion Jones, Ross
March, Martin Naughton, Richard Thomas, Chris Wilkins (Aberystwyth),
Craig Williams, Danny Field, Gareth Mansell (Newtown).

Newtown strike to strengthen squad
Newtown have snapped up former Port Vale youngster Shane Kirkham to
bolster their Welsh Premier plans.
Meanwhile Steve Wales has returned to Latham Park to resume reserve
teams affairs.
Latham Park will also host Carmarthen Town's UEFA Cup clash with
Eircom League side Longford Town on Thursday July 21.

Llanwddyn snap TNS trio
Ambitious Montgomeryshire League side Llanwddyn have snapped up a
trio of aspiring youngsters from the ranks of TNS. Utility man Chris
Borthwisk is joined by striker Wayne Clarke and goalkeeper Justin
Robinson at Wddyn Park. New manager is also hopeful of convincing
top scorer Craig Scott to remain with the club.

Shock rise in soccer red cards
A record rise in red cards and cautions have been reported to the
Central Wales Football Association. Disciplinary secretary Malcolm
Eaton revealed a 10% increase in cautions and a staggering 19% in
the red card rate.
He said: "According to my records this is the worst year since I
took over as disciplinary secretary. Lets hope this improves in
future years". Worryingly Mr Eaton reported a "marked increase" in
the number of assaults on match officials and insisted; "Clubs must
make every effort to ensure players behave in a respectable manner
towards the officials."
"Also some behaviour of some of the mini-minor leagues leave a lot
to be desired in both language and attitude."
Meanwhile the offical end of season disciplinary figures have been
released for 2005 with the JT Hughes League reporting the highest
increase in dismissals. A total of 46 dismissals represented a
massive 48% rise compared to 43% increase in the Calsberg Sunday
League and a 22% in the Personal Asset Management Mid Wales Youth
League.
The Watson Associates Mid Wales League (South) remianed unchanged
while the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League red card rate fell 12%.
It was a similar story in the yellow card report with the Calsberg
Sunday League reporting a massive 69% increase in cautions -
dwarfing the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League by 44%.
The Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League reported a 13% increase while
a small drop was reported in the Watson Associates Mid Wales League
(South). The PAM Youth League cauions dropped by 24%.
