Aberystwyth Town's managing director Tony Bates warns that Welsh
Premier needs more support.

"Mr Bates accused members of the FAW of having no interest in the
national league, and he asserted that unless it received the full
backing of its governing body, it will never achieve its full
potential."

Whittall returns

"Geoff Whittall has made a return to management with Montgomeryshire
League side Meifod. Whittall led the club to the Spar Mid Wales
League in 1999 but the club resigned and dropped to the amateur
league in 2002 casting the club's very future in doubt. However
player-manager Mike Davies ensured the clubs prosperity by steering
them to promotion to the Honda Division last season before stepping
down last week. Davies said: 'I have enjoyed my spell as manager but
work committments nean I will not be able to give as much time in the
future. It's great news to have Geoff Whittall back in charge of the
club and it's all systems go for next season."

Promotion bid
Montgomeryshire League Champions Four Crosses have applied for
promotion to the Spar Mid Wales League. Meanwhile Newbridge (South)
have rejected an invitation due to ground criteria while Aberystwyth
League champions Penparcau are also staying out. A spokesman for
Penparcau said: "The club is staying put. We are re-forming a youth
side next season."

membership of the Montgomeryshire League. Manager Sion Kerr dropped

Meanwhile Bishops Castle Reserves and Dyffryn Banw Reserves join
Llanidloes Town Reserves join the Montgomeryshire League, while
Forden Utd have adopted the new name of Severn Valley FC for 2006
under the management of John Pritchard. Meanwhile chris club Trewern
Utd's future remains uncertain.

After a summer of upheaval, Rhayader look to be getting settled after
