FORMER Aberystwyth and TNS striker Anthony Wright is "lucky to be
alive" according to Police after he was the victim of a shooting in
Liverpool on Tuesday night.
The 26-year old was shot in his car shortly after pulling into the
driveway of his home in Kirkdale, Liverpool.
He was wounded in the chest, stomach and leg after being shot three
times by a masked man through the passenger window.
His injuries are said to be serious but not life threatening.
It is believed that the shooting is part of a drug-based feud in the
area which has already claimed the lives of three men.
Wright, whose brother Michael is facing an attempted murder charge,
recently joined Vauxhall Motors from Hyde United and was returning
with his girlfriend from a friendly against Bangor City at Farrar
Road.
Paramedics stopped him bleeding and took him to the Royal Liverpool
hospital.
Wright's car was found burnt out in a football car park several
months ago.
Bagger, as he was affectionately known by the fans, made 40
appearances for TNS and a further 56 for the Park Avenue club,
scoring 38 Welsh Premier goals.
He left Aberystwyth for Hyde last summer, returning briefly towards
the end of last season, having previously played for Barrow,
Droylsden and as a trainee with Wrexham.
