No easy games in the league, says Finley   Message List

ABERYSTWYTH Town FC manager Gary Finley was looking to his side to
bounce back from Saturday's league defeat at Porthmadog in last
night's (Tuesday) FAW BBC Premier Cup match at home to Caersws.

And with Newi Cefn Druids visiting Park Avenue for a league
encounter on Saturday, the defeat at Porthmadog has gone to serve
Finley's insistence that there are no easy games in the league.

And Caersws will not be as easy a match for Finley's team. Caersws
are presently top in the FAW BBC Premier Cup's Group A table, and
Aber will need a win to keep alive any hopes of qualifying.

On the league front, the Aber boss's disappointment at Saturday's
result is tempered only slightly by the fact that league leaders TNS
were toppled 3-2 at home by third-placed Rhyl.

The North Walians did themselves and Aber a huge favour, denying TNS
the chance to go four points clear at the top, with a game in hand.

And with Newi Cefn Druids now level on points with Porthmadog - who
took a giant leap up the table courtesy of three points at Aber's
expense - Finley will want his men to raise their game, just as
others seem to do against the Park Avenue outfit.

Gary Finley said: "I've said it before - at the end of the day,
there are no easy games in this league - Porthmadog proved that.

"They had lost seven games on the bounce, but we never really played
against them.

"And at the final whistle, their players were celebrating having
beaten us.

"They raised their game, and were getting men back behind the ball.

"And that's the way it's going to be. With us riding high, it is
something like a cup final for so-called lower teams when they play
Aber.

"And the sooner we start realising that the better," he added.

"We just have to get back to basics, get the ball down, and pass
it."

But if Aber had to slip up in the league, this may have been a
better weekend than most to do it.

Now Newi Cefn Druids are next up in the league for Aber.

The Wrexham-based outfit are in mid table, but there will be no
complacency from Finley on the task in hand.

He said: "Playing Caersws gives us a chance to get together and
hopefully sort a few things out.

"At the moment, we seem to have stopped working hard. And we are
playing almost as separate units in defence, midfield and attack -
we need to start playing as a team again, by becoming more compact
and more organised."
