Bangor Mail

BANGOR City conquerers Glantraeth have to travel to Mid-Wales to
take on Welsh Premier strugglers Welshpool Town in the last 16 of
the Welsh Cup.

It is only the second time Glantraeth have been involved in the
national knockout.

Caernarfon Town, who beat Cwmbran Town thanks to a single Calvin
Davies goal a couple of weeks ago in the Welsh Premier, will stage
what they hope is an action replay in the Welsh Cup.

The Tale of Two Towns will enter a second crucial chapter in the
fourth round on Saturday, February 7, again at The Oval.

Caernarfon's manager Adie Jones said he was not too displeased with
the draw, especially since it offered another home occasion - and
the Canaries have been highly successful in front of their own fans
this season.

Their impressive record comprises seven wins, two draws and no
defeats.

Jones said: "It could have been worse and it could have been better
but thereare not going to be any easy matches at this advanced stage
of the competition.

"At least, we do not have to travel - because we do not do that at
all well."

Regarded among the cup's favourites, rampant Rhyl - undefeated in 16
games and winners at Llanfairpwll at the weekend - have been poring
over maps to try to locate unheard-of Llwydcoed, their next
opponents.

The villagers, who play in the Welsh League (South) and are just
outside Aberdare, towards Merthyr Tydfil, have no cup pedigree
whatsoever.

Perhaps the top tie of the round will feature always-formidable
Connah's Quay Nomads and the Welsh Premier's leaders and full-timers
TNS Llansantffraid, meeting at the Deeside Stadium.

Welsh Cup fourth round draw, in full: Caernarfon Town v Cwmbran
Town; Connah's Quay Nomads v TNS; Llwydcoed v Rhyl; NEWI Cefn Druids
v Goytre United; Porth Tywyn Suburbs v Afan Lido; Ton Pentre v
PortTalbot Town; UWIC Inter Cardiff v Bridgend Town; Welshpool Town
v Glantraeth. To be played on Saturday, February 7.
