A hotly-contested penalty from Frank Mottram stretched Guilsfield's
unbeaten run to six games in the Cymru Alliance with a hard-earned 3-
3 draw at Mold Alex.
The Guils had struggled to get into their stride for much of the
game as they created few clear-cut chances against stand-in keeper
Jonathan Cross, the former Wrexham midfielder.
But they had started brightly enough to take the lead on 15 minutes
when Simon Edwards headed home Mark Lunt's right wing cross against
his former club.
Mold hit back 10 minutes later through Matthew Lurz who fired home
the rebound after young keeper Chris Williams, replacing the injured
Mike Barton, had made an initial good save.
Lunt, who also hit the post, restored the Guils lead five minutes
after the interval with a fortuitous cross-shot which found the net
from the left.
But the hosts, who battled hard throughout, were again back on terms
on the hour when Kristian Evans broke along the left before driving
his angled shot into the net.
A 30-yard piledriver from Wes Brereton then appeared to put the
points in Mold's grasp before Mottram salvaged the game with a
disputed penalty somewhat harshly awarded for handball 11 minutes
from time.
