firstly apologies if you get this more than once, trying to get it out to as many people as possible. Details below of a one day charity fundraising tournament held in Birmingham in April to raise money for the MS Society.
Matt (the guy organising it all) is taking part in the Triple Threat Challenge which encompasses the London Marathon, cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats and then completing the Three Peaks Challenge - all in the space of a week. If successful, he will be the first person to complete the challenge and will have travelled around 1,700 miles in total in just 7 days. The purpose of this tour is not only to raise funds for the MS Society, but also to raise the profile of MS amongst the general public. The disease affects around 85,000 individuals in the UK alone, yet most people know nothing about it! So be sure to explore the website and find out more - www.ttt2009.com
Indoor Ultimate Fundraiser in aid of the MS Society Saturday 18th April 2009 from 9.30am to 5.00pm
Woodcock Sports Centre Woodcock Street Birmingham B4 7ET
Please note that I won’t know about the pitches until Saturday so I will ring/text everyone on Saturday evening to confirm. Please can I get a contact number for the Bears.

I didn't get around to speak to everyone at the end of the day so I
don't know the final standings.
Please can team captains email me, ebuckling[at]hotmail[dot]com, with
the results from their second pool stage.
Thanks

I've just uploaded the schedule, I'd appreciate it if you could take
a look asap and ring/text me on 07908521152 if you spot any mistakes.
Please note it is a different format to the previous events because
of the number of teams (11 is difficult to schedule). This means that
you may have to play a number of games in a row but this seemed to be
the best way.

Just to let you know that with the current cold weather we won’t know if the pitches are usable until late Saturday afternoon. This means that we may have to cancel this event at short notice.
With this in mind I recommend that you DON'T pay by bank transfer and instead bring cash or cheque.
Can team captains from the following please give me a contact number so that I can ring/text you when I know what is happening:
There is one spot remaining if anyone is interested, if there are any players who would be interested in making a pickup team please let me know. I will get the schedule out on Thursday when I know what is happening with the final spot.
Payment will be accepted on the day as cash or cheque. Alternatively bank transfers should be made to Ewen Buckling, acc 53537888, sort 72-50-03 with your team name as a reference.
Any questions get in touch at ebuckling[at]hotmail[dot]com
Entry is now open for MWL3. To enter please send an email to ebuckling[at]hotmail[dot]com, with team name, contact name and contact email by 6pm Friday 2 January
It will be at the Nottingham venue again and is limited to 12 teams, unfortunately due to rising cost of getting the pitches marked out entry fee will be £40, payment details will be sent out once teams are confirmed.
This year the midlands qualifier for uni mixed nationals will be taking place in Birmingham, hosted by uBu. The tournament is being held over a single day on the 17th January 2009, with space for 10 teams and currently 5 slots at nationals to play for (TBC).
Obviously priority goes to first teams, second team places will be filled on a first come first served basis. As we are putting this together for a single day event the cost per team is just £55.
In order to confirm your interest please send an e-mail to me (axs633@..., NOT the address you are receiving this from) stating:
Your name
Your university
How many teams you wish to enter
Contact e-mail address and phone number
Your e-mail will confirm your provisional place, a cheque for £55 will finalise it. I understand it may be slightly more difficult to sort out finance for your club over Christmas and New Year, so the deadline for cheques will be Monday 12th January. Payable to 'Andrew Steeds' (with your team name written on the reverse), please post to:
Andrew Steeds
31 Williams Orchard
Highnam
Gloucester
GL2 8EL
Separate cheques for first and second teams, if you would prefer to pay through direct transfer please let me know in your e-mail.
A Saturday night party will take place at the Birmingham University Guild of Students (you don't need to play on Sunday!), and accommodation will be with friendly uBu players. Details for this will be sorted after New Year.
There's also the pub on the corner of the fields. This was closed
temporarily but we were surprised to see it open under new management
recently. They'll have toilets (and beer) as well.
