Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
midlandfrisbee group:
As Brummie promised to do, here is a poll on popularity of
weekdays for Summer League events.
Please pick your favourite day.
o Monday
o Tuesday
o Wednesday
o Thursday
o Friday
To vote, please visit the following web page:

Note: Please do not reply to this message. Poll votes are
not collected via email. To vote, you must go to the Yahoo! Groups
web site listed above.
Thanks!
If Mondays aren't the sensible option, then it's going to have to be
Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for the same reasons (avoiding
tournaments). I think we should aim to avoid clashes with weekday
practices. I'll put out a poll, and if people can fill it in then
we'll just go with the most common choices.
The next event will be Monday 8th August on Mandela Park, Leicester
(NOT the same place as the first event). A map is available here:-

&height=400&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=\
&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&zm=0&scale=10000&multi\
map.x=500&multimap.y=195
Mandela Park is in between the rugby stadium and the prison - you can
park on Lancaster Road.

Hey all,
Just wondering if there was any talks/idea`s floating round the
circuit for the possibility of changing the proposed weekday used for
said MSL dates.
Mainly, from looking at how the rest of the outdoor season is spaced
out (or not for those of us who will be playing on 6 consecutive
weekends on the trot), and was thinking what views people may have on
the possibility of changing it from a tiresome monday evening.
Just a thought

Hi all,
The first Midlands Summer League event took place this evening, and
was an all round success. Four teams battled it out, and all games
were very close. There were more than 40 people out, and it was great
to see so many people supporting ultimate in the Midlands.
The next event is scheduled for Monday 8th August - if you're
interested in playing some competitive but fun and friendly ultimate,
then please send an email to midlandfrisbee-subscribe@yahoogroups.com,
or check out http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/midlandfrisbee/
Thanks,
Brummie
Airwolf would be interested if we can secure the
numbers. Will see what can be done.

Hopefully this works.
DiscHunters (some of us ex-Jesters - now with jobs - all trying to be
respectable) would love to play summer leagues on weeknights. About 8 of us
would well be up for it.)
all correspondance to

would be greatfully recieved.

UTB/uBu will probably bring about 6-7 players from Birmingham. There are
also about 4 or 5 interested from Stourbridge, but they have to sort out
transport, so may or may not be there.
I will probably have sets of cones in the back of my car, and if I am
feeling really organised I will bring the Winter League scoreboards and
water bottles.

Parking is via access on Granville Road (just off the A6, see link
above). After parking, you should be able to see a large war memorial
past the basketball / tennis courts.
If you're coming by train, go to Leicester station, walk out the front
and turn left. Walk up to the top of the hill - the main gates to
Victoria Park are on your right. If you go down the road to the right
of them, that's Granville Road.
Please meet at the war memorial at 7.15, then we can sort out teams,
games and pitches. If you're late, just look for the frisbees.
Notes:
1 - PLEASE can people indicate if they are coming. If you represent a
team then please tell me how many of your team are likely to come. It
only has to be rough figures.
2 - The event will be a HAT. So there is no need to have a whole team.
If you are one person, just show up and you can play.
3 - Everyone has to bring a light and dark shirt.
I hope to see as many of you as possible on Monday.

I'm hoping the first event can be more of a hat - that way people
don't need to organise a whole team, and people get to play with
different people to usual.
So just let me know roughly how many people are interested from your
area and we'll go from there.
We can look at rotation of practices after the first event - Monday 25th July.

I will no doubt be able to put some sort of team together from
Sheffield to come down and play. We would find it better for us if the

All,
I sent out a feeler email recently - here's the main points.
What:-
Due to this being the first time we've tried it, we'll keep it simple.
There won't really be a scrict format. Instead, hopefully if we can
get a venue and all attend on a said date, we can form some hat teams
and play a few games. If it's successful, we can repeat and either
play the other teams or make new ones.
Where:- Victoria Park, Leicester (alternative: Meadows Nottingham.
But Leicester is closer for Warwick & Bham based players).
Ashby has been cited as ideal as it is most central, but I don't know
of any players in that area - if you are, get in touch.
We can easily rotate the venue for the future.
When:-
Ideally we could meet on a weekday evening, but this is open to
suggestion. Initially I suggested Tuesday 26th July, starting 7.30pm;
however UTB have already said that they practice on Tuesdays. So if
Monday 25th is ok - one week from today - then we can do that instead.
What I would like is for everyone to contact your team and find out
some rough numbers, then I'll have an idea of how to run the evening.
I think this is a chance for us to start something new to strengthen
ultimate in our area, and also to build better relationships between
clubs. Running the event as a hat will help everyone to meet new
people too.
Thanks for your time

Hi Jon
Two main reasons for that.
First was the atrocious weather last year (and nominal
facilities) but really its cos that week we would only
have 5 players. so we're going to Plymouth indoors and
Iron man
I'm disappointed myself, but gotta go with the vote.
See you soon tho

Sounds like a good idea, but only for a midweek competition for Uni sides. I
don't think there is any room on the calendar for another weekend competition,
not if teams want time to train as well as fitting around indoors, juniors, etc.
Maybe a student player would like to organise one for the Midlands? You could
have a series of matches between 8 or so teams based on 4 or so teams meeting up
at one place for a round-robin set of matches each time? There should be a few
teams interested?

Copy of message from the Charity Shield organiser:
"I'm really sorry for the disappointment, but due to lack of interest from
other winter leagues I had to adapt the qualifying criteria.
Sorry again
Gaz"
I have forwarded the message to Joel from Bears if he wants to argue the case
more. It seems crazy that we should be penalised because other leagues can't be
bothered. I think it is unfortunately another case of adapting the competition
to suit the top teams, regardless of trying to help other teams/players to
progress. My guess is that Clapham/Fire/Leeds/Chevvy/etc found some euro teams
to come over, and just wanted to use it as another practice/warm-up for EUCC. I
am only speculating obviously.

Just to build up the excitement for the weekends fixture, the current Sunday
forecast for Lichfield is Snow showers with a predicted high temperature of -2
degrees C.
In all seriousness, make sure everyone on the team has plenty of warm clothing,
and spare dry stuff for afterwards.
