Hi Bob et al,
I am not the main man, but I can offer to relay the conversation from 2 weeks ago as answers to the questions if that helps:
>>do we have a permanent format for the summer league?
No. Would think it will be a hat event again tonight. Assuming we carry on with every 2 weeks, then presumably we only have another 2 or 3 weeks where we can get a decent session in before darkness falls across Leicester. (Although there was talk of a floodlight pitch somewhere)
There was the suggestion last time to try to split off into permanent teams, and keep those going for the few weeks, but I guess a lot of that will depend on the attendance levels tonight, and how consistent we think that might be. It would be nice to get to play as a team for a few different events, but would also be nice to play with a few different people.
>>Are the different areas suppose to try and field a team each time?
As I understand it, no. It depends on what teams want out of it. If clubs/teams want to use it as a set of training games against Midlands teams, then obviously it would be better to play as clubs. But, at this stage of the season, there is probably not much that a team could do with that. Especially if (as I think was the case last time) there was only about 5 or 6 players max from any one club. More useful to keep it as a hat now, and then teams can enter the Winter League to develop team specific skills/tactics over the winter against Midlands teams.
Also, it will make it much more obvious when Brummie is trying to poach a player for EMO if he has to walk past all their club team-mates.
See you all tonight,
Andy

Subject: [midlandfrisbee] Summer League Format
Sorry if this has already been sorted, but do we have a permanent format for the summer league?
Is it going to be a new hat tournament event each week? Are the initial hat teams being kept on an ongoing basis? Are the different areas suppose to try and field a team each time?
I plan to try to turn up and get involved at some point, but am still sort of sidelined with a nearly mended broken collar bone at the moment.
Cheers Bob (Red 2).
