Hi, people,
As previously mentioned, the top two MWL teams will qualify for the winter League finals in london on march 06/07. I've recommended that it be held as a normal weekend tourney.
If any other teams (that does not qualify for WL finals) wants to play in the separate finals, inform me.

Could one co-ordinator from each of the MWL, BWL, NWL and SWL please
get
in touch with me ASAP about the Charity Shield/Winter League Finals
scheduled for March 06 or 07 in London? We need to make some quick
decisions.
For those that don't know - we allocate a certain number of slots to
each Winter League and that number of teams qualify for a Finals Day
between the top teams from all the Winter leagues. We've called it the
Charity Shield day because the entry fees go to the charity of the
winning team's choice (£240 to the Red Cross last year).
This year we have Wall City from Berlin and possibly one other Euro
team
coming over as wild cards. Not quite sure of the format until we know
how many teams are interested - but likely to be 8 or 12 teams.
Please let me know:
1) How many slots you'd like at the tournament
2) Whether you think we should play the tournament over 2 days to get
longer and hence better quality games. If we did it over 2 days we
would
try and keep it to 5 or 6 games.
3) Whether you think we should just play on the Saturday instead of the
Sunday so you can go out on the Saturday night and take advantage of a
not-completely-Ultimate weekend..
4) Whether any of the teams from your region who do not finish in the
top number of slots allocated to you (but finish next in line) would
like to come and play in the second tier with the rest of the teams
from
the London Winter League (who will be playing in a separate Finals day
in a separate location). It's not a bad warm-up for the Tour..
BTW It is probably appropriate to let you all know that a few weeks ago
I handed over final operational responsibility for the LWL to Wayne
Retter, who now becomes LWL Chairman (I am though remaining actively
involved: an advisor on the board and webmaster for the rest of this
year at least). After nearly 3 years of running the LWL we now have a
Committee of 5 sharing the workload and contributing to growth in
standards of organization. I have every confidence that Wayne (with
Nicole, Gaz and Pete beside him) will be twice as thorough as I ever
was. Many thanks to them for taking over and being responsible for a
large chunk of this season's improved organization.
Bye for now,
Roger
