I'm going to try and give the best directions that I can for the fun run on Wednesday: If coming from 15 S, Lewisburg, Take a right on Suplee? Mill RD, this is at the top of the hill before you reach Colonial Candle Crafters, go to a 'T' and the parking lot should be in front of you. If coming from 15N turn Left onto the above road it will be after the candle place for better directions contact Joel.

The Trail Blazers were well represented at the Sick Trail Run. Besides myself: John Dunkleberger, Steve Templin, Shelley and Joel Heasley, Jeff Miville and family, Paul Noll, Ed and RuthAnn Helfrick, Darvey Bressi, and Tom Underwood all participated. Sorry if I missed anyone else. Paul, RuthAnn, and Darvey all finished the Promise Land 34+ miler in VA yesterday. RuthAnn was won her AG. They all reported that temperatures hit 95 during the race. The Miville's all ran a race in Bloomsburg this morning prior to going to the Sick Run. Kip Hoffman was the overall winner at the Sick Run.
RuthAnn gave me directions to Turtle Creek, but I can't remember the name of the road you have to take off of Rt. 15.

Tracey; I also wanted to congratulate u and Carmella for running the Danville to Bloomsburg 26.3 marathon quite a feat including a trail section. If u have any review or details that would be good. I think there were also trailblazers in the half. Super congrats on the Hyner. I think Joel was there helping out.
Saturday April 18th www.neparunner.com headlines that Trailblazer Tom Underwood won the Biathlon(sport section) at Whitetail Preserve near Conyngham, Pa. Tom shot 9 out of 10 targets successfully with the 22 and ran the 4k(time 21;27) on the preserve trail which has a gentle hill winding between woods and fields. Ann Sick won the Match section and Scott Sick won the male masters in Match according to Mike Montagna's website.

Hi Rick -
Adding to the great running report form the weekend, Carmella Dipippa and I did the Hyner Challenge in Renova. It was probably the hardest race I have ever done, but Carm tackled it like a champ and did a PR by I believe 30 mins from last year. Anyway, I finished, which I was thrilled about, being the road runner that I am, but I wanted to let you know about Carm! It was an awesome race with about 650 people. The race was followed by good food, beverages and conversation with other crazy trail runners :).
Glad to hear everyone is doing well!

The Robbins trail was very scenic as always. Unfortunately, the race management lacked a Joel Heasley, Kevin Warren or Jason Fritz to score the details. Main complaint is lack of volunteers at key trail points. Larry and I seem to be dominating our age group since back to the Humdinger which is a scary thought. By the way Tom Underwood had a superb race going yesterday as well.
The Milton Rotary 10k Saturday started at the island. Traditionally the trailblazers warm up around the island wallking path. The 10k runners included Tricia Good, Shelley Heasley, Kevin Wertman and myself. Darvey Bressi and Paul Noll hammered the 5k. This is also a race where a couple of additional knowledgeable volunteers would help. Nonetheless, a flat and extremely fast course.
Congrats to Ruthann on the 50 miler in Clifton, Virginia. Any additional details on this accomplishment would be of interest. This equates running the outside of the Robbins trail 20 times!!!
A southern based trailblazer, daughter Beth, ran a 76 minute 10 miler at the Annapolis Cherry Pit run which followed a 37;50 8k at the Martha Jefferson in Charlottesville, Va.

To RuthAnn Helfrick for finishing the Bull Run 50 miler in Clifton VA yesterday. RuthAnn clocked 9:37:37 while placing 80th out of 265 finishers. Way to go RuthAnn.
On the local scene, Steve Temlin won the annual Robbins Run 10k. John Dunkleberger took an AG 3rd place in the 5k while Rick Hueholt won the very competitive 56-60 age group.

I want to remind everyone of the fun run 6:30 tomorrow night (Wed.)
at Montour Preserve. Also, this weekend,Sat. is the Biathlon at Whitetail Preserve
and Sun. is the Robbins Run 5 or 10 K. in Danville. Both races are easy trail
runs. Then, on Sun. April 26 is the Sick Trail Run. The
Sick family puts on a great race so don't miss it!
Hope to see everyone at all these events.
Tom
I just took random photos out on the trail. Some of them turned out blurry. I
had no idea who I was taking a picture of. I did not even recognize my wife
until she spoke after I took her picture.
Sorry if I missed you guys. It was a learning experience for me. I have not
done much night time photography.

It was a great night for the run a blast for all! It was tough for me since I had a flashlight to move it side to side, rather than carrying a headlamp. Wanted to do the 10k, but after 3 miles at the last second I changed my mind. Loved the course, but if I hadn't had the half-marathon (Rivertowns) planned the next day, then things would have gotten squishier. Glad I finished 9th and not pushed it like a normal race.
Also, are there any photos of a guy wearing jammies with a long-sleeve sweatshirt promoting the Ocean Drive Marathon, which happened the weekend before...or any of us Penn College guys for that matter?
Thanks. :)

all; above are two races. Max's Shickshinny trail run which I highly recommend.
The second is a six pack run put on by Tony Sandler, the man who created the
Tanker run of bygone past. Date is April 11 or Easter Saturday..

Among the trailblazers and fun run partipants that ran the Egg Hill ten miler
were Brent Crispell, Shelley Heasley(who ran a stellar 78 and change for the
hilly distance), Richelle Fessler, Randy Loss and I. Tim Spiegelmeyer ran 10
miles as a warm up then ran the race. If you see Shelley she had a truly
excellent run in the chilly rain.
The race journeys out of Spring Mills up a hill into some picturesque farm
country along the ridge and the valleys below. At the top of the hill is a dirt
and stone road reminiscent of some of our trail runs. Finally down hill, the
last two miles are flat as the runners meander back into Spring Mills. Looking
to the right it is hard to believe the hill we just conquered.
Dunkleberger and Noll had first mentioned this memorable run to me. It is a
classic from the start at the old school house to the finish.
You will be missed, Ed was planning on running with you again.

Ed Earley put on an superb low key marathon starting from his Veterinary shop,
running thru the wooded mountains north of Williamsport. This was a new course
which went around the Rose Valley lake instead of running above it. The run is
in the vicinity of Loyalsockville, Ball's Mills and Warrensville.
The race volunteer support was excellent with Joel Heasley filling in for two
volunteers who could not make it. Archie Troxell offered a nice benediction and
was also on the support team. Food was prima.
First male and female were Josh Criswell and Nancy Lee Harmon. Shane
Loundenslager and Randy Loesch were among the few people who ran the entire 26.4
mountainous distance.
Most runners including a 12 person Berwick contingient only ran either 20 or 15.
Tom Underwood, Doug Alter(a Bulldog) and Darlene Sabo distinguished themselves
by being essentially first and second to the 15 mile mark. This is not a race
but that is a remarkable accomplishment as well.
I recommend that anyone who knows Ed Earley try to get invited next year as this
is one scenic and challenging run.
The Oct. 3 Bald Eagle Mountain Megatransect registration is almost to
the 700 runner cut-off so don't delay and miss the fun.( that's what
they tell me ! ) Go to www.ultrahike.com for more info.

The above race will be held Saturday April 4th in Shickshinny, a few minutes
north of Berwick on route 11. This race would be an excellent prelude to the
Night flight race at Mt. Luther. The Susquehanna warrior trail was created by a
volunteer group in Shickshinny/Mocanqua. It is also ideal for a person into
running in a natural setting on a forgiving compacted fine aggregate base. Just
across the river in Mocanaqua(Indian name for Frances Slocum) is the Mocanaqua
loop which is for hiking but our Club members run it.
Time is 10;15 am April 4th and contact number is 542-7946. Plenty of time to run
this one and then the Night flight. Also to run a little extra as the trail goes
almost to the Riverlands south and north to West Nanticoke and possibly beyond.
Higly recommend the SWT 5k on April 4, 2009.
