Laurie,
This is going to be an exciting match up this year at Worlds. As you know, Michelle was not involved in the Grand Prix events. At Nationals, she was good enough to win but certainly not in top form. Notably, Michelle didn't perform the Bolero routine that she will debut at Worlds. On the other hand, Irina stormed through the Grand Prix events and looked in great shape but then she only landed three jumps to take the European Title last weekend.
Who knows who will put it all together? It is still a month and a half away, and we will see who "brings it."
I believe Michelle has her destiny in her own hands. I believe that she has a difficult program in her pocket which she has not shown to the world. As in years past, she has hinted that she has practiced two different triple-triple combinations. But who knows if she will put them into her program when the music begins. If she is fast and aggressive, she will take it all. But if she skates conservatively like she did at Nationals, she will not win and may not even medal.
In contrast to the young whippersnappers from Canada, I love veteran Irina Slutskya's power and rekindled love of skating with her recent health problems. However, historically, Irina is simply not as consistent as Michelle, who always brings the total package but not the difficult jump combinations that other ladies go for. Irina has an advantage over Michelle in that she has already had experience in skating under the new judging system; she typically has better spins and footwork; and the competition is on her home turf in Russia.

Are you focused enough?
How nervous are you?
Recent injuries?
How much practice have you had?
Your coach.
They are both terriffic.
I think Michelle has the most grace than anyone else.
Irina could use more grace.
I think Michelle is going to make her programs harder, I think she said.
