Accident halts Said's strong performance
Team Press Release

Boris Said was having a career day in a Nextel Cup oval
race. But with 56 laps remaining in Sunday's Aaron's 499 at
Talladega Superspeedway, Said saw a strong performance take
a 180-degree turn when his No. 36 CENTRIX Financial
Chevrolet was one of 25 cars involved in an accident on the
high-speed track.

"Our car was running so good -- it's a shame where we
finished (35th)," offered Said, who qualified 12th. "If we
only could have stayed clean we would have had a great
finish for MB/Sutton Motorsports. The incident happened so
quickly -- I didn't see anything but smoke. And when I got
into the smoke, my car became a ping pong ball."

Said drove his damaged Chevy to the team's pit box where
the CENTRIX crew worked on the car after NASCAR lifted the
red flag that lasted more than 40 minutes for track repair
and clean up. Said did return to action, but a busted
radiator ended his day on Lap 153 of 188.

When the 25-car melee occurred, Said was running in the top
15 and maneuvering the Team CENTRIX Chevy on the monster
oval with the confidence of a NASCAR veteran.

"I felt real good out there," explained Said, who also had
the CENTRIX car running in the top 10 at different points
of the race. "I did make some mistakes early, but overall I
really felt comfortable out there. This was my first Cup
race at Talladega and it was fun. If you love to go fast,
then this is the place you want to race at."

The globe-trotting Said will be in Germany this weekend to
take part in the German 24 Hour race at the famed
Nurburgring Nordschleife road course. His next Nextel Cup
race will be the May 29th Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor
Speedway in Charlotte.

Massive pile-up in 'Dega takes out Nemechek
Team Press Release

When the "Big One" struck at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday,
Joe Nemechek's U.S. Army Chevrolet was one of 25 cars
collected in the multicar accident that forced NASCAR
officials to red-flag the Nextel Cup race for more than 40
minutes to clean up the mess.

When the incident occurred on Lap 132 of 188, Nemechek was
running in the top 20 and in the lead draft.

"It's really unfortunate what happened because we were
poised to bust to the front," said Nemechek, who finished
31st with a crippled racecar. "I didn't see anything -- it
was just all smoke. Something happened right up front and
it was big. I just got pinned against the wall."

Nemechek was brought to the infield medical center where he
was evaluated and released with no injuries. However, his
black and gold car suffered a different fate.

"The car didn't hit hard, but we had some major suspension
damage along with a broken gear in the steering," explained
Nemechek. "It was quite a feat to get back on the track.
Hats off to all of the Army crew."

Once NASCAR lifted the red flag, the Army of One crew went
to work to repair the damage and Nemechek returned to action
on Lap 158.

"Anytime you come here you know this can happen," said
Nemechek. "You just hope that you're lucky enough to avoid
the big one."

The 25-car melee also claimed Nemechek's MB2 Motorsports
teammates Scott Riggs and Boris Said. Both Riggs and Said
were also having strong runs when the accident happened.

"Today wasn't our day, but everyone knows that we have an
outstanding superspeedway program," offered Nemechek. "We
can't wait for the July event in Daytona."

The next race for the U.S. Army Team will be Saturday night
in Darlington, S.C.

Riggs looking to improve on Darlington results
Team Press Release

Darlington Raceway, the 1.366-mile oval justifiably known as
being "Too Tough Too Tame," has been just that to Valvoline
driver Scott Riggs since his first visit there in the Nextel
Cup Series.

While finding success at the historic egg-shaped track in
the Craftsman Truck and Busch Series, Riggs' two rookie-
starts last season resulted in 30th and 31st-place finishes.
In his four Busch Series starts he earned four top-20
results, including a third in 2002. In his only Craftsman
Truck Series event there, he started fourth and finished
third.

"I've been successful at Darlington in the past, but
certainly not last year," explained the second-year Nextel
Cup driver. "The first year they had the safer barriers was
last season and that took a couple of feet away from an
already-narrow racing surface. It forced the drivers to
find new ways around the track and I struggled a little.

"I remember the Valvoline Chevy being real tight at the
beginning of the race and then turning very loose. We
finally got the car feeling good, but I made contact with
someone and ending up earning my Darlington Stripes.

"With this year's event being at night, it's another curve
ball thrown at the teams and drivers, but this time we hope
to adjust accordingly."

This weekend's Dodge Charger 500 will be the first night
race the Nextel Cup Series has seen at Darlington Raceway.

"The good thing about this event is that we're qualifying
and practicing at night too," offered Riggs. "A lot of times
you have night races, but you qualify and practice during
the day which makes it hard to know what your racecar's
going to do when the green flag falls.

"With the schedule the way it is for this weekend, and with
it being an impound race, we should be able to get a good
feel for the car's handling during Thursday night's practice
sessions."

Riggs knows that this weekend will be a challenge for the
team, but suspects it's the same for most.

"I know Darlington isn't the easiest place to get a solid
finish," he said. "But five people have to finish in the
top five and ten people have to finish in the top 10.
There's no reason it shouldn't be the Valvoline team."
