Hello, members! I am an new member, and I am extremely proud to
join this group to honor and support this amazing young man, named
Michael Phelps, undoubtedly the world's best swimmer at this time.
The first time I saw Michael and his amazing feats of swimming
mastery was last July at the World Championships, and my heart
swelled with pride to see this American boy winning every race he
entered with incredible grace, fluid style, and relentless speed. It
was almost too much to believe and astounding that this young
American could do what no other has done in swimming history--achieve
a remarkable and unprecedented five world records in a single meet!
        And he has really just begun his journey into sports fame and
history! Next, the Summer Olypics. What loftier heights will Michael
reach here? The next Mark Spitz? Or even surpass him?
        All of us as Americans can be justly proud of this young
athlete and his accomplishments, and support him in all his
endeavors, in and out of the pool. In this world of constant turmoil,
bloody wars, and fearful uncertainly, Michael is like a beacon of
youthful light and radiance and a symbol of all that is good in
America.

NO! Amanda Beard is Dating Ryk Neethling, a South African sprinter
from the University of Arizona.

A post said he had a girlfriend in Maryland. Her name is Carolyn.
But I don't know if they are still together.

The local paper ran a story on Amanda Beard, saying she was involved
with Ryk Neethling.  They were both swimming at the University of
Arizona at the time.  I think the photos of Phelps with Beard are
just publicity photos since they both endorse Speedo.

There's a poll on espn.com for the "next greatest athlete", and so
far Phelps has only received 9% of the votes.  Are there any Phelps
fans going to the Australian meets?  I can't find any tv coverage of
them in the US.

Ugh, all I found in the article is that people sometimes confuse his
sister with his girlfriend, which doesn't say he actually has one.
So if he has one he obviously doesn't want people to scream it out
in public. So yeah, maybe we shouldn't then.

As far as I know he hasn't. He said in an article that he doesn't
have the time. Oh, and the pic seemed to be taken shortly before
Barcelona.Amanda was with someone at that point, so I think they're
just friends.

for art, we're supposed to bring in a picture, like a decent one
thats a pretty good size, of a famous person. we're gonna do a
portrait drawing. we cant print pictures off the net. does anyone
know of any magazines that michael's been in lately?? because i
really wanna do him. so just tell me if you have any magazines with
articles and pictures of him in them ok? thanks.
