I agree, you would think the environment and the circumstances make it a
potentially combustible situation. Then you throw in people with a violent
streak and it's bound to happen Clearly not a formula for rehabilitation.

The wheel just keeps turning.

Not very surprising. When people don't have anything else positive in their
lives they fixate on some other entity. This happens in third world countries
(and tbh more developed countries as well) with soccer. Or elections. Or water
rights lol. Not unique. I'd have to think a guy facing 30 years probably doesn't
have a lot of other positives going on in his life. So if someone threatens the
only thing special in his life he's gonna go. Now why it got beyond a beatdown
to a stabbing - that's for psychologists to decide.

st goes to show how sick some people are in our society, that they would kill
another human being over something as ridiculous as talking trash about your

Dolphins criticism deadly for South Bay inmate, deputies say

When state prisoner Willie L. Smith "dissed" the Miami Dolphins, authorities
say, it might have cost him his life.

Vincent Lee, 42, is charged with fatally stabbing Smith, 28, of Fort Pierce, in
the head with a foot-and-a-half- long "shiv" at the South Bay Correctional
Institution on Oct. 16.

Lee was booked Friday afternoon into the Palm Beach County Jail.

He is being held without bond, charged with first degree murder, smuggling a
weapon into a correctional facility and destruction of physical evidence.

According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's report, the two lived in adjoining
cells.

Interviews with inmates, according to the report, showed how the slaying
occurred:

The night before the murder, Smith had commented to Lee, "The Dolphins suck."

Days earlier, the NFL team had beaten the arch-rival New York Jets to go to 2-3
after having started the season 0-3 and were heading into an off-week before
playing the undefeated New Orleans Saints.

Lee, angry, challenged Smith to bet on it, but Smith refused.

Lee told an inmate later, "I am going to get him (Smith). I am tired of this,"
suggesting an ongoing feud, the report said. It does not elaborate.

About 6:30 the following morning, Lee handed an inmate a folder and said he had
to take care of something.

He and Smith began arguing and Lee went to his cell and returned with a black
belt with a padlock attached .

Shouting, "I am going to kill you," Lee struck Smith in the head.

Smith, holding his bleeding head, said, "Why did you hit me? Why did you do me
like that?"

Lee said, "This was about last night."

The two then struggled some more, Smith shouting, "I don't want to fight."

Minutes later, Lee dragged Smith out of his cell. Smith was bleeding from the
head and had labored breathing and was unresponsive.

A prisoner saw a 1 1/2-foot long makeshift knife in Lee's waistband.

Investigators would later find the "shiv."

According to the witnesses, Lee went back to his cell and began cleaning up
blood, which covered the cell's floor, walls, beds, clothes and books and was
all over Lee.

Lee changed his clothes, washed his hands and flushed a blood-covered sheet down
the toilet, the report said.

Smith was taken to Delray Medical Center and died eight days later.

Lee was moved to solitary confinement inside the prison and refused to talk to
authorities, the report said.

South Bay Correctional has been privately managed since 1997 by the Boca
Raton-based GEO Group, a private firm that operates 61 facilities, comprising
about 60,000 beds, around the world According to state prison records, Vincent
has been in prison since 1996 on a 30-year sentence on Broward County
convictions for sale of cocaine and sale of counterfeit drugs as well as robbery
and escape.

Records show he also was in prison from 1985 to 1987, then for a week in 1988
and four months in 1989, and five months in 1991. He then was in prison from
1991 to 1992. Convictions included robbery, burglary and cocaine possession.

Smith began serving a life term in July 2004 on a St. Lucie County conviction
for armed robbery and armed burglary, records show.

When state prisoner Willie L. Smith "dissed" the Miami Dolphins, authorities
say, it might have cost him his life.

Vincent Lee, 42, is charged with fatally stabbing Smith, 28, of Fort Pierce, in
the head with a foot-and-a-half-long "shiv" at the South Bay Correctional

Lucie County conviction
for armed robbery and armed burglary, records show.

no doubt there are questions, esp. with Ricky saying he would retire
after 2010. I just think we're much more talent rich at that position
than on D - we need a playmaking LB that can do what Zach used to.
Crowder just isn't that guy. We need a safety. And if anything is
going to help the running game it's a deep passing game and guys who
can reliably get open deep and stretch the defense. In a way the Pat
White pickup took away our ability to address another of those needs.

Ronnie is a free agent only if the labor deal gets done - which
doesn't look likely. so he and cobbs will be around to rehab.

We have four good running backs- maybe five!! I do not think Ronnie injury will
change his quality as a running back- surpirsed with all the obviousl other
needs such as good receivers, the o line depth and secondary that this is being
suggested. Having said that i thibnk it was a really good performance by the
defense..

I know the Phins have more pressing needs then Running Back right now, but I
would not be shocked if Ricky decided to retire after this year.   You listen
to his comments and he clearly has other things that he wants to do in life
besides playing football.   They said Ricky might retire after 2010, but it
could be after this year.   If Ronnie is banged up or not resigned then all of
a sudden I think we have a real need at Running Back.

I think Polite and Cobbs are not #1 running backs...they are good for about 10
carries each.   I liked what I saw out of Hilliard on Thursday night but I
think he is more like a Fullback and not and every down back.   I agree that
it all depends on what happens with Ronnie.   I just think Gerhart of Stanford
would be someone to look at if he is there in Round 2 or Round 3.   I like
Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama with our first round pick.

Doug

The question will come down to Ronnie Brown's future with the Phins and who
will be available. I think Brown will be a Free Agent at the end of this
year. I do believe the staff had high hopes for Cobbs. But he went down
with a serious knee injury. So, I think there is a chance that the Phins
will look for an RB if Brown is not in their future and Cobbs' health is
suspect.

We are 5-5 with 6 games left.   I think the Patriots and Steelers will be
tough games to win....the other four games are very winnable.  I think we
finish out 4-2 with a record of 9-7.   That may not be enough to get us
in.   Hopefully we run the table and have another 11-5 season but it's going
to be tough.

Stanford has a really good running back named Toby Gerhart.   He is really
tough to bring down and has pretty good speed.   I think he is projected as a
first or second rounder in 2010:

Boy, I hope not. He is going to be missed. He really is the run stopper up the
middle.

I was hoping that the 4th down play was a poke in the eye to the Pats who
couldn't pull it off last week. A little intimidation before they meet again.
=)

Yeah, all of a sudden we have gotten pretty banged up, after getting thru last
season so unscathed. We are fortunate to have great depth in the backfield.

I don't think the wildcat is dead yet though. Like you said they got 10 more
days to make adjustments. They might not have been quite ready this week.
Buffalo should not be a huge threat and may not see it but they should be well
adjusted and spring it back on the Pats. If the lines hold it is still
promising. It is great to see that they can take or leave it. That makes it so
much harder for the other teams to prepare.

4th quarter started to get me nervous again. Sure wish they would can the
prevent defence and play like they need to win the game instead of getting
cautious and hoping to protect what they have on the scoreboard. That has been
a bad trait with the Fins for many years now. I'm almost more confidant when
they have to come up from behind in the 4th qtr. A few more seconds on the
clock and it might have been a different game.

God bless
jb

It was a great effort all the way around-  Ricky was awesome!!!  They made me
proud last night.  They could have easily been down for this game after losing
Ronnie and traveling on a short week.  Odds were against them but they played
with heart.  The D came through!!

the Ferguson thing looked to me like he was upset that his season was over

this report in Rotoworld doesn't sound too positive either: http://is.gd/ 4ZygU

apparently Sparano said the reason they didn't go for a FG was because
of the injuries and that they would have had players on the FG unit
who had never practiced a FG before.

the Ferguson thing looked to me like he was upset that his season was over

this report in Rotoworld doesn't sound too positive either: http://is.gd/4ZygU

apparently Sparano said the reason they didn't go for a FG was because
of the injuries and that they would have had players on the FG unit
who had never practiced a FG before.

That was a really solid effort by our team tonight and Ginn and Bess actually
looked they were able to catch the ball.  Ginn seems to be really good at
catching low passes, especially around the sidelines.   I think if you throw
it to Ginn at shoulder or head level he has problems, but he handles the low
throws.
Ricky Williams played great, and I loved seeing Hilliard
getting some runs...he is very strong and can break tackles.  We looked fine
without the Wildcat and I think we played with some good momentum.   Hopefully
Ferguson isn't seriously injured but he didn't look good being carried of.
Our o-lineman also got really banged up, especially our Centers.....good thing
we have about ten days to get ready for the Bills.   What did you guys think
of Sparano going for it on 4th down with about a minute left in the game?   I
thought he maybe should have kicked the FG but I think he said afterwards that
most of the O-line was banged up and he worried about a blocked kick getting run
back to tie it.

Doug

Great piont and they showed us a lot tonmight!! very big win and with 10 days
off might have some suprises against buffalo- curious how the weather will be...
but very good win tonight- Hillaird looks really good also as a change of pace-
just hope the iunjuries arent too bad- beginning to add up on us this year...

our strength is still running the ball - whether in the wildcat or the

pistol. we need to go against tendencies and call a good game because

our wide receivers are pure shit. we have some good guys as guys, but

none of them would start anywhere else in the NFL save for maybe a few

places. We have talent in the backfield, not out wide. play to your

strengths and call a good game to keep them honest.

our strength is still running the ball - whether in the wildcat or the
pistol. we need to go against tendencies and call a good game because
our wide receivers are pure shit. we have some good guys as guys, but
none of them would start anywhere else in the NFL save for maybe a few
places. We have talent in the backfield, not out wide. play to your
strengths and call a good game to keep them honest.

I do agree with you. Ronnie was the only player with skills to make that
formation productive. I do think we can mix in some White option type plays or
a pass play for that matter.

I also agree with us having to rely more on traditional sets by and large. And
the receivers must be more sure handed for us to win. We should come out
passing on first down and try to loosen up the box. No doubt the Panthers will
be looking for Henne to make the plays.

They were able to do it in that last drive last Sunday. Here's hoping they can
keep that momentum going

My honest opinion: Without Ronnie the Wildcat is dead. Nobody is going to
fear Pat Whte running the ball up the middle and a d-back will not be scared to
blow up White if he does run it. Ronnie was the one guy we couldn't lose on
offense. I think we are going to have to go to a traditional formation and
lets see what Henne can do. Line up Camarillo, Beck and Ginn and hopefully the
latter two guys will learn how to catch the ball.

Absolutely. Don't forget Hilliard. He could easily move up to Williams place in
the Wildcat formation. I was really impressed with him in preseason. Hits hard
and doesn't give up.

I also think we will see White and Henne together in the backfield, a
combination for a huge play downfield. Just hope the receivers have their good
hands on tonight.

God bless
