It is my understanding that is is going to be about 70 degrees on sunday, and water temperature about 60. Having said that, we are starting at 7:00 something in the morning, and will obviously be cooler. Yes, alot of people wear their running, and biking gear under their wetsuits. Makes for a much easier transition.
I know nothing about the rules of shirts vs. sports bras. Ask the Mermaid people.

I heard you can wear your bike shorts (without the huge padding) under
your wetsuit, is this true?
Thanks!

Hi Helen!
I would definitely practice swimming, not only in your wetsuit, but in
open water, too! You probably don't need to wear it to the pool, but
try it out in the ocean or a lake once or twice before the race, just
so you know how it feels.
Good luck and have fun!! :)

As it turns out, I don't think I can get there in time. Thank you very much for extending the invitation. If you are doing others let me know, if you want. Many thanks,
I'm doing one with a few girlfriends this Sat. We are going to do the swim and bike portion of the race at the site, Seacliff, meeting at 9:30am outside the dirt parking lot. You are welcome to join us! Just give me a heads up so we know who to wait for you to show.
I don't know about lifeguards on duty. I'm not sure safety factor, that's up to you. Feel free to try it out, you can always turn around short or have us stop for a break. It's more for getting familiar with the open water then actual time factor, so even if we're different speeds, I'm rather fast swimmer, we can hold up or double back and take it slow.

I would be very interested. Are there lifeguards on duty? Or what is the safety factor. I'm on the slow side of the swimng group, so let me know if that would be a drag on your group.

Hi Helen,
It depends on your base swimming fitness. If you've been swimming for
sometime and have a good base than I would recommend working on your
speed and building strength. Here would be a good workout, the rest
time is between intervals.
5 min warm-up
2 x 800 (1 min rest)
4 x 100 (30 sec rest)
5 x 50 (10 sec rest)
If you are just starting to get back into swimming than I would focus
on 400's. Build up your confidence by doing 400's
5 min warm-up
5 x 400 (45sec to 1min rest)
Hope that helps.

Tough call -- they're all cute, but I like option A best.

Hi!
I have a size 4 O'Neil wetsuit for sale. I've only worn it once and I
can sell it to you for 70 bucks. It looks like this: http://www.oneill.com/juniors-products.php?
sport=surf&categoryID=1&typeID=20&seriesID=55&id=886 but this is not
the exact one. Mine is a 3/2. The one and only time I wore it was for
the Mermaid Santa Cruz last year, so it knows the course and kept me
warm. :) Let me know if you're interested!
