HI Robin!
Hopefully your clinic went well! I will admit that swimming in the
ocean can be scary with the waves, the salty water and sea life, but
remember, you're a lifeguard! You know how to swim AND there will be
about 15 to 20 other lifeguards out there watching you, making sure
you are okay. They will be in kayaks, on surfboards and on jet skis!
I just learned how to swim and was dead last, last year, hanging out
with the fish FOREVER and none of them ate me. :) They will be
swimming far, far away from all the chaos and jet skis. They have
plenty of other places to go!
A piece of advice, from Dave Scott (famous triathlete)- To calm
yourself as you swim, look at the sky with each breath.
