Dundee (Crookshanks) has been wrestling for EVERYBODY. He is
on a local Jackson-Milan radio station (FM93) with a wrestling
show on either wednesday or thursday at 5:00pm. Most of the talk is
WCW-WWF with Monday results.

A memphis promotion that runs regular shows at the New Daisy on Beale
on non Boxing days.

A promotion called CWA ran a Thanksgiving weekend card in Corinth.

The latest is, I believe Herb Abrams will start a promotion for TNN.
TNN is owned by CBS. This may prevent WCW from trining. My bet
is that WWF connects if the Abrams group falls.

BUT MCW fans are lobbying TNN for the slot. The problem is MCW has too
much indy TV commitment and America ONE satelite feed to low power
stations with a natural hesitancy to mess with their present TV setup.
There TV is presently distributed by WWF, which contracts also may
factor in as to wheather or not MCW gets TNN TV

ECW is working out an agreement with FoxSports regional networks to show
the program on MSG, Fox SPORTS SOUTH, FOX Southwest, FOX Midwest etc....
and that may factor wheather or not they can seek out TNN.

Anybody else getting tired of the waste of Brian Christopher
on WWF TV?????? I am told that there may be a Brian Christopher-Scott
Taylor angle where the two get married. The storyline direction for
Brian is awful.

Why not give him longer hair and put him in a new cliq with
Shawn Michaels. I think Brian could be as good as Michaels.

Judy,

Joey and Len run the natural foods store in Breantwood.
Funny, Joey was a different wrestler from his dad. Joey was a
weightlifter with power moves, while his dad, Len, was
more of a move-countermove use an opponent's strength as a
wrestling tool.

Jog my memory, wasn't there another Rossi son besides
Joey in wrestling?????

Next time I am in Nashville, I am going to stop by Rossi
Health Inc to see Joey.

One side story, Joey Rossi, to my memory, tried to start
a Pro-Werstlers union to help and protect wrestlers. That is what
hastened the end of his career. I guess for lack of a better word
his advocacy of unionization of wrestlers may have blackballed him
from the old wrestling circuit of the 70's. Of course now being
46 (which makes his dad, Len 77??), he would be in the
Lawler-Hogan-Flair generation and not really able to do the
moves of today. BUT Joey is a Vince type of wrestler with POWER
MOVES. I bet Joey would have been a good power lift trainer in
his prime.

Len was a trailblazer. If I am not mistaken, both wrestling
and tagging with Bearcat Brown in 1968-69 was the first time a
black/white wrestler worked together in places like Memphis,
Nashville, and Birmingham. Hard to imagine that those days are
so recent.

Len Rossi, NWA_Southern Junior Heavyweight (became the Southern
Heavyweight) champ, World and Southern Tag Champ has a web site
that gives some pics, info and memories from a 1960's era wrestler.

The URL is: http://www.cdfnet.com/rossi
		 http://www.cdfnet.com/rossi/len.html

My memory of Len is wrestling with Bearcat Brown as a tag team. IN 60's
era, in the south this was very novel.

This guy reminds me of Lorenzo's in Nashville, at least when it was the
old Lorenzo's Italian Village (of 20 years ago). The owner had wall to
wall pics and memoriabillia of wrestling.

Or of Len Rossi's of Rossi's Health Food Store in Brentwood. Len is the
former holder of the Southern Junior Heavyweight (The Predicessor to
Lawler's Southern Belt). He has some memorabillia around his store

•HOGAN TO ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan will announce his retirement from wrestling on
the Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno on Thursday, November 26.

Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, is arguably the most popular and
recognizable wrestler in history, and is widely credited with sparking the
resurgence of wrestling's popularity in the early 1980's.

Sources close to WCW report that Hogan and his wife have recently moved
to Los Angeles, and that Hogan believes the time is right for him to step
away from wrestling.

Hogan has been removed from any future WCW booking plans, and no
further appearances are expected on WCW programming at the present time.

Hogan remains contracted to WCW for the next two years under an
arrangement that would prevent him from working elsewhere during the terms
of the contract.

WCW sources point to the recent lackluster buyrate for Halloween Havoc
as a factor in Hogan's decision to retire. The much anticipated rematch
between Hogan and the Warrior failed to translate into a big buyrate, and
was considered a disappointment.

The same WCW sources point to a shift in booking philosophy in recent
weeks that will involve a more significant behind the scenes role for Kevin
Nash as being another major factor in Hogan's decision to leave.

Hogan, a former world champion in both the WWF and in WCW, was involved
in the "Rock N Wrestling Connection" angle in the WWF that prompted the
explosion of wrestling's popularity in the 80's. Hogan, defended the honor
of pop singer Cindy Lauper, in a match against Roddy Piper that was
televised live on MTV, and wrestling suddenly became "hip".

The popularity of Hogan, and the WWF, skyrocketed with the advent of
PPV's, and continued until a steroid scandal received national attention.

Hogan stepped out of the spotlight following the steroid scandal, but
resurfaced in WCW and quickly made an impact by defeating Ric Flair for the
WCW World Title.

Hogan shocked fans by turning heel and emerging as leader of the NWO, a
move that many observers think extended his career at least two years.

Hogan has recently announced his plans to run for President, and
appears serious about continuing the campaign.

The Tonight Show appearance had been scheduled several weeks ago, and
after a meeting last week with WCW management, Hogan decided to use the
appearance to announce his retirement.

The Tonight Show airs on NBC at 11:30pm ET", this show will air on Thursday.

PPW needs more talent, i do agree, the angle between lawler dundee and
christopher
is really old...that was done in '95 I remember...that was the funniest angle
that
they ever came up with...I think Brian was about to reveal that he was lawler's
son but that would be stupid...seeing how everyone in memphis that i know, has
know that he and the ref/wrestler Kevin Christian are Jerry's kids..

I hope sid comes back soon...tell u what would be great...MPPW/WCW/KAW fued

The Bulldog Raines/Streak vs. Balto (Baldo or whatever)/Vic Vicious brawls are
good.

The Young Guns need more contenders than Wikkid and King. Does O'Grady do
anything besides wrestle and yell? Can he do an interview?

The Hales/Baxter angle is getting better....great match between the two the

Thanks Heather. I got it on tape, but won't watch until later.

I actually LIKE Derrek King's Mr Personalities persona. Brian

thirty years from now a Lawler-Dundee wheelchairs and walkers
legal no time no dq match.

Tommy Rich is wrestling up in ECW. Gilbert is in the area AND, in my
area (Jackson-Lexington TN) he is trying to promote under the banner
West Tennessee Wrestling (WTW) using MPPW-MCW. He also is training some
wrestlers.

btw, I have never been impressed with Randy's heel wrestling promoter
angle. It makes him look as if he has relapsed from recovery. Plus
his physical coordination (and size) is not good enough to make it work.

East of Jackson, in Dickson TN, a new promotion is starting
up called the Atomic Wrestling Association (AWA). They are supposed to
run shows every other week in the Dickson civic center.

Macho Man started in the Nashville Gulas Promotion after 75% of the area
wrestlers jumped to the Lawler/Jarrett co-owned CWA promotion about
1977(???). He was working for Gulas (in Nashville & N Georgia) and His
father, Angelo Poffo's ICW promotion in Lexington KY.

That ICW had good TV with Ron Garvin, Leeping Lanny, (my favorite)
Pistol Pez, Bob Roop, King Ripper Collins, Batton Twins, Doug Vines & Jeff
Sworw with their manager Izzy Slappowitz. I also seem to remember
seeing Elizabeth in an audience angle from her UK days.

LeDuc was the most compelling heel EVER! that cutting his arm with an ax
in a blood oath was tremendous. His Nephew is wrestling now in MPPW &
MCW.

I used to have the Jerry Lawler & The Nunnery Brothers album, But I cant
find it!!!!!!!! btw, There was a release/re-release of some of Jerry's
records a few months ago. You might want to call Poplar Tunes/Pop Tunes
in memphis and see if they can locate the tape/disc.

Ahh the "Mean Greenes", Don and Al. In latter years Don tried a Johnny
Walker/Tim Woods idea of wrestling with his name under a mask, Woods
and Walker were Mr Wrestling I & II. Al latched on to a YOUNG Phil
Hickerson to form a stron tag team in the memory of the Mean Greenes

My earliest memory of Lawler is 71 wrestling with Jim White in a
Biker/hood persona as the OUTLAWS. He had a meteoric rise, ending up
at a small Alabama promotion to develop his persona, where he met
Sam Bass.

Every week someone got hit with the bell hammer, the bell, the desk was
destroyed, office chairs (not folding metal either) and one of my all
time favortie gimmicks in memphis in the early 70s...the ring
collapsing, but the brawl went on...90 minutes every saturday morning on
tv 13 then tv5...Does anybody out there have a copy of Jerry Lawlers
first record album?

A memphonite through and through. I being a little older remember the
famous locals and worldwide names. Lawler's persona uses a lot of
a old-timer, Sputnic Monroe. Sputnic-Billy Wickes feud in the sixties
eclipses anything extreme today.

I also got to see Danny Hodge wrestle. To me, Danny Hodge, is the best
in pure ability I ever saw. I got to see Lou Thez, who in his 50's could
wrestle circles around guys in their 20's.

The VonBrawners were THE tag team. Their feud with another heel team, the
INTERNS, was the best EVER!!!!!

Len Rossi, Junior and Souther heavyweight champ from
late 60's early 70's has a Health Food store in Brentwood
(south of Nashville) TN. He also has a web site for his
store that includes some old wrestling pics. I will try
to remember to get the web address to post at a later date.

George Weigeneoff is wrestling in some SMALL Middle
and East Tennessee indys in a Sheik persona. He is Gentleman
Saul Weigeneoff son and is a trivia question answer, George
is a blind professional wrestler.

Buddy Landell, the "no-show king" is promoting and
wrestling in East Tennessee.

Everbody's favorite, Handsome Jimmy is working in
a couple of rural West Virginia promotions. I believe he may
be doing some promoting and booking.

Brian Lee will join WCW ASAP, and he is running a
'rasslin school in the Nashville area.

MCW runs a weekly wrestling school card in Lebanon TN.
Music City now has two divisions, a Nashville area and a Georgia
(Marietta) area. Billy Black and Joel Deaton have retured to the
squared circle in the Georgia Division. Many of the MPPW wrestlers
are on the Music City cards in Nashville.

I believe MPPW (Memphis Power Pro Wrestling) , I believe
in co-promoting in Kentucky (Louisville) some cards for Ohio Valley
Wrestling (OVW).

Tony Faulk is running a small promotion in the Paducah KY
area. I believe he has the "record" for number of losses in Memphis.

A little indy promotion in West Tennessee runs regular shows
in Dyer, Gibson, and a couple of Jackson bars. There is a local
access wrestling show on Dyersburg cable put together by another
small promotion.

	 Hope this news is useful

Power Pro Wrestling - 11/07/98

The show opens with Randy Hales challanging Brandon Baxtor to a No
Rules Street Fight. He promises it'll be a one-on-one fight and he'll
bar the doors to make sure no one interferes.

For the Young Guns Trophy - Kid Wikked vs. Aaron O' Grady - O'Grady
scores the upset with an awesome unknow (To me and Dave Brown)
finishing move. He picks Wikked up as if to give him a backdrop, as he
slides down his back he grabs his head which is around his armpit and
holds him there. He then jumps up and Wikked lands on his head. It
somewhat reminded me of the Dreamer Driver in which Tommy Dreamer
    uses.

Hales vs. Baxtor in a Street Fight - Surprisingly good match
considering neither one is a wrestler. After a back and forth match,
Baxtor hits Hales with the Stone Cold Stunner to score the pinfall. A
300+ pound guy hits the ring who is one of the 3 new Hales' recruits.
They beat Baxtor and throw him through a table. Throw him outside the
ring and beat him untill Dave Brown and Cori Maclin finally breaks it
up. Baxtor is rushed to a hospital.

Hales intoduces his new recruits to be his bodyguards. One guy is
named Baldo who looks very impressive (About 6'4" and 400+ pounds and
most of it is muscle) The second is Vicious Vic who helped Hales beat
Baxtor. The last is Shawn Stasiak, who is said to be the son of Stan
Stasiak (Hope I got the spelling right) The new recruits beat Hales
old Bodyguards for letting Hales get hurt and tared and feathered last
    week.

Bill Dundee defeats Ashley Hudson in an Australian Boomerang-on-a-pole
match. Hudson initially climbed the 10 foot pole to get the Boomerang
but lost it. Dundee picked it up and hit Hudson in the head for the
    win.

Shawn Stasiak defeats Lance Jade with a finishing move similiar to
    Marc Mero's TKO

Jerry Lawler, Brian Christopher, Sid Vicious and the Strak all failed
to make an appearance - Maybe NEXT WEEK!
--------------------------------------------
    Power Pro Wrestling - 10/31/98

Halloween Special! All wrestlers come out sporting their halloween
costumes. Dave Brown announces that the losers of all the randomly
selected matches will have their masked removed and the winners will
come back for the "Masquarade Ball" at the end of the show.

Killer Clown/Gene Simmons vs. Dr. Frank and The Gravedigger - Simmons
and Killer Clown lose. Simmons is Derrik King. Instead of the Clown
unmasking, he jumps King and runs to the dressing room.

Prsident Clinton vs. Mad Dog. The Mad Dog leaves the ring and takes
his mask off and says he's not wearing a stupid mask and that
Halloween is stupid. Clinton wins with the schoolboy rollup.

Freddie/Leatherface vs. Popeye/Batman with Catwoman - During the match
Darth Vader comes out and attacks Catwoman. Vader loses the mask and
it's Randy Hales! (What a surprise! - NOT!) Popeye pins Freddie with
    the Flying Body Press.

Randy Hales interview - Cowboy comes out and Hales jumps him saying
that has to be Brandon Baxtor. Hales takes him to the dumpster and
throws him in. Spiderman appears on top of the dumpster and jumps on
Hales and Tars and Feathers him.

Snowman vs. Wolfman. Wolfman hits Snowman with his own broom and gets
the pinfall. Snowman is Kevin Christian.

Spiderman comes out and rips off his costume and it's Brandon Baxtor.
    The cowboy was Bruno.

In the main event, Popeye, Batman and the Gravedigger are left. Killer
Clown comes out and trips up the Gravedigger and Batman pins him.
Gravedigger is The Streak. Streak chases Kiler Clown who is Kid Wikked
to the dressing room. The Ref goes down and Popeye goes for the
spinach. Catwoman jumps on his back and Popeye flips her over, leaves
the ring and gets a pumkin. He hammers the pumkin over Batman's head
for the 3 count. He leaves the ring, takes off his mask (Brian
Christopher) and tells everyone that he knew that he could beat
    Lawler!
  ---------------------------------------------------
    Power Pro Wrestling - 10/24/98

The show starts off with Randy Hales talking about getting rid of
    Brandon Baxtor and Stacy.

The Streak over Ashley Hudson via summersault splash (This guy has
great potential, but let's PLEASE give him a big finishing move!!!
What happened to the double-arm DDT he used to use?)

In the #1 Contender spot for the Young Guns title - Derrik King vs.
Lance Jade, Mr. Personality defeats Jade via pinfall with help from
    Kid Wikked.

Sid Vicious arrives in a limo with 15 or so bikers all wearing the POB
shirts. They jump Bulldog Raines, Tony Faulk and the Body Guards as
they tried to prevent them from entering the studio. They tie them up
and put hoods over their heads and bring them to the desk. Sid
declares them guilty of crime against the Brotherhood. He straps them
with his weight training belt and drags Bulldog Raines out in the
parking lot where he ties his feet to a few motorcycles and straps him
    there.

    area! powerprowrestling@...

Kid Wikked over Bill Dundee via D.Q. after a reversal by Bruno.
Samantha slaps Bruno after the match.

Rex King vs. Jerry Lawler - After 10 minutes of action, the ref goes
down AGAIN. Hales jumps up on the apron and Stacy jumps Hales from
behind. Rex King goes over to Hales and Lawler rolls King up for the
three count. Lawler grabs Hales and brings him out to the dumpster.
Wikked and King jump Lawler and Hales brings Stacy out to the dumpster
again. As he is about to the throw her in, Brandon Baxter comes out of
the dumpster to jump Hales. Dundee comes and and he and Lawler clear
the lot. In the brawl, Lawler accidently hits Dundee and the show ends
as they push each other in the parking lot.
  -----------------------------------------
    Power Pro Wrestling - 10/17/98

The show opens with Randy Hales in the ring with the microphone. He
says that he is tired of the abuse that he's been taking. He brags
about the beating he gave Brandon Baxtor the week before. Calls Sid
Vicious a coward for not being here today. He says if your not on his
team, you're out of Power Pro Wrestling.. He calls Rex King in and
tells him how pleased he is for putting Stacy in the hospital. He pays
him as he shakes King's hand. He tells King that he's sure he'll do
the same thing to Lawler in the upcoming Flag match in the main event.
Hales then introduces Carl LeDuc (Joe LeDuc's nephew). Lawler charges
the ring with a chair and takes out LeDuc.

Streak over Bulldog Raines via pinfall. After the match, Tony Faulk,
one of the Body Guards, and Ashley Hudson all jump Streak. Lawler
comes in again and throws fire into the face of Bulldog Raines which
    clears the ring.

Interview with Baxtor at a local golf course. Baxtor talks about how
Hales trash talked his father the week before.

Brian Christopher and Master B over Blade and Rex King as Christopher
    continues his heel turn.

Bill Dundee is victorious in a 4 corners match with help from Lawler.

Hales group ties up one of Sid Vicious's body guards and beat him down
and leave him laying in the parking lot.

Lawler vs. Rex King in a Flag Match. Hales is in King's corner as
Dundee comes out to be in Lawler's corner. Lawler controls the match
with a pile driver. Hales crawls to the other side of the ring. Dundee
sees him and starts to beat him with the flag. The ref sees the flag
waving and declares King the winner. Lawler and Dundee pushes each
    other as the show ends!
---------------------------------------------------
    Power Pro Wrestling - 10/10/98

The show opens with highlights of Sid Vicious winning the battle royal
and teaming with Lawler to beat Road Warrior Hawk and Bart Gunn by DQ.

Randy Hales comes out with Hawk. Books a Chicago street fight between
Hawk and Lawler in the main event. Again Hawk talks about how Lawler
had fun with him in the dressing room about his drinking problems and
    vowed revenge.

Billy Jo Travis and Bulldog Raines defeat Streak and Lance Jade as
Hawk powerbombs Jade with the referee distracted.

Brandon Baxtor and Stacy vs. Randy Hales in a handicap match never
took place. Baxtor told Stacy to just go back to the back fearing for
her safety. Hales comes out and talkes about Baxtors past and how
Stacy shouldn't wear clothes like that on TV and that she looked like
a tramp. Talks about Brandon's father dying in a plane crash and his
family on wellfare. Baxtor jumps Hales, then out comes Travis and
holds Baxtor while Hales beats him. Travis hits Baxtor over the head
with his guitar then they drag him out of the building and throw him
    into the studio's dumpster.

Lawler and Stacy come to the desk and Lawler says he's gonna beat Hawk
like the Indians whipped the Yankees butt the night before. Hawk lets
Lawler repeatedly pile drive him to show it doesn't have any effect.
Hawk had trouble getting up after the 3rd Pile Driver. Stacy and Hales
started to fight on the outside. Then out came Travis and Dundee. They
battle on the floor. The show ends as Hales is carrying Stacy to the
dumpster to apparently throw her in. (Wonder if Baxtor is still in
    there? That could be fun!)
---------------------------------------------
    Power Pro Wrestling - 10/03/98

The show opens with a Limo pulling up with Randy Hales, Road Warrior
Hawk, and Giant Silva. Billy Joe Travis comes out with guitar and begs
Hales for the first shot at Sid Vicious. He then introduces Hales who
is with Giant Silva and Dr. Tom Pritchard. (Coming out to the Insane
Clown Posse Music) Pritchard talks about how he has trained the Giant
for this very moment, to destroy Jerry Lawler and how he's always
hated Lawler. Hales then introduces Road Warrior Hawk and Bart Gunn.
Hawk says Lawler kept him out of the territory when he was in charge
and thanks to new management, he's allowed back in to kick some ass.
Also he didn't appreciate the way Lawler made fun of him during his
drinking problems in the WWF. Gunn talks about his knockouts in the
WWF as the fans get a "We want Sid" chant started.

During the show, Sid is in the parking lot trying to get in, but
security won't let him enter. Ashley Hudson and he Body Guards come
out to confront Sid. Sid chokeslams Hudson into the back of a truck
and straps the Body Guards with his weightlifting belt all the while
saying "I don't want to do this! But Randy Hales is making me do
    this!" This was really funny!

After the break, Hawk and Gunn come out to challange Lawler. Lawler
responds in the dressing room saying, he's not going out there alone
and he'll have his partner soon.

Dr. Tom Pritchard vs. The Streak - after some back and forth action,
Giant Silva comes in to double team the Streak. They leave him laying
as they go to a commercial break.

Giant Silva vs. Jerry Lawler - The Giant has the upper hand most of
the match, when Lawler gains control, Hales interferes and Stacy jumps
on his back at ringside. Gunn and Hawk hit the ring and attak Lawler.
After a few minutes of stomping Lawler, the Streak breaks though
security and unlocks the door to let Sid into the studio. Sid and
    Streak clear the ring.

After the break Lawler, Streak and Sid do an interview. Sid guarantees
that he'll win the big 17 man battle royal to earn the right to be
Lawler's partner against Gunn and Hawk on tonight's card!
----------------------------------------
    Power Pro Wrestling - 09/25/98

The show starts with highlights from last week with the return of Sid
Vicious! Sid enters the ring with a few buddies and powerbombs the
wrestlers that were preparing for their upcoming match. Does an

    re-instated in PPW.

announces that Lawler and the man that wins an upcoming battle royal
at the Coliseum on Oct 3 will face the Road Warriors! Buddy Wayne
comes out with fan mail demanding that Hales give the fans what they
want, and that being Sid Vicious. Hales finally agrees to hire Sid if
he can beat 4 wrestlers next week on TV of his choosing. ( Look for
Sid to team with Lawler against the LOD next week!)

    Samantha defeats Vicious Vikki

Plug for "Settle the Score" at the Mid-South Coliseum during the fair
October 3. $10 and $15 tickets which includes admission to the
    Mid-South Fair! 7 Great matches!

Interview with Brian Christopher - talks about how Lawler and Dundee
has held him back all of these years and he's tired of it. He'll be
teaming with Billy Joe Travis to battle Lawer/Dundee later in the
    show.

Interview with Lawler discussing Man on the Moon - Stacy comes out
with him - Lawler goes into detail about what happened in '83 with
Kaufman. He says that Carrey wanted the role badly and wanted to be
just like Andy Kaufman on the set. He demanded he be called Andy and
even rode to the set in an Ice Cream truck once owned by Kaufman.
Trying to emulate Kaufman, he had a natural dislike for Lawler. During
the wrestling scenes, Carrey wanted to take the suplex and pile
drivers himself but the producers wouldn't allow it so he got upset.
The 3000 strong crowd also got on him about not taking the moves
himself. After the scene, he got on the mic and told everyone that he
wanted to take the moves but the producers wouldn't allow it. It got
really heated and the crew cut his mic. He then went over to Lawler
and spat on him. Lawler chased him to the other side of the ring,
grabbed him around the head and neck. Realized what was happening and
let him go. About an hour later he starting hearing reports that
Carrey had to be rushed to the hospital after being hurt in the
wrestling ring. Lawler goes on to say that some people thought this
was all a publicity stunt, but why would he and Carrey do this when
the movie was still at least a year away from coming out? Currently
Carrey wants Lawler out of the movie completely but doesn't know if
it'll happen due to all the time and money that went into all of those
scenes. Won't know alot more untill November when they are supposed to
shoot the Letterman scenes in New York..

    Stacy vs. Brandon Baxter

Baxter comes out in street clothes and says he's not wrestling Stacy
(As good as Stacy looked in those red tights, he must be crazy!) Randy
Hales comes to the ring and tells them that he makes the matches and
they will wrestle! Baxter and Hales then go at it. Tony Falk comes to
break them up and Baxter nails him with a few punches for his effort!

    Dundee/Lawler vs. Christopher/Travis

Christopher and Travis keep pulling each other off when going for a
pin because they are the one that want the pin... finally Lawler
pushes Christopher into Travis starting a fight between them.. the
show goes off the air with them going at it and Lawler and Dundee
    standing in the ring laughing....
