This is a list for people to talk the uniques things
of Memphis. The following is a sample.
I remember in the 70's the DUI list was a who's
who of the recording industry. I remember
in 1972 seeing Cass Elliott, Stephen Stills and
many others wandering through J. B. Hunter Dept.
Store.
I remember Union Station, and as a child riding the
passinger train from Memphis to Boston.
I remember Fortunes Drive IN, reportedly the first
drive in restarauant anywhere. I remember other
restarauants Keithley's, Britlings, Dobbs House,
Toddle House, the Luau, Four Flames, The Embers, and
Leonards BBQ. I remember Hull-Dobbs Ford downtown.
Department stores like Breeze, Gerbers, Lowensteins,
Levys.
I remeber the real Dyers hamburgers and curb market
sandwiches. I remeber Lafayette and High Cotton
Music Rooms.
I remeber Trent Wood, Tiny, Ima Imo, and yes
Happy Hal. Happy Hal's Toy House.
I remeber Dewie Phillips, the Flying Dutchman,
emperor Watson's Comandos, the WMPS Good Guys,
Rick Dees, Crazy Bob McClain, Ron Jordan,
Jim Fields, and Marge Thrasher.
I remember STAX music, SUN music, and Slim/Speck
Rhodes otf the Rhodes Show fame. Johnny Scott and
the Men on the late night Johnny Scott show.
