Re: [memphis-redbirds] A Night With The Stars

The Night With The Stars was fabulous. Nice tables
and food was provided upstairs for the event. Screens
were showing the TV broadcast of the Cards in L.A.
There were prizes given during the night. I got a
Pujols bobblehead. Some more expensive prizes were
given in the drawings. I got a baseball signed by the
2004 Memphis Redbirds. A tablet folder. A Redbird
organizer. A Redbirds umbrella was given for
everybody. With my baseball cards, I had my arms full
leaving after the game. The floor was full, but
tables and food were there for the crowd. More food
was there when I left.

Reservations were easy, but they wanted them by Oct.
4. The spring Cardinals Caravan had twice the walkup
crowd they expected. Not enough seats were provided.
There was a speaker problem. I know this time, they
wanted to know close how many would be there. It was
fine.

I can't read all the autographs. I think these are
most of the major league stars. Robin Roberts, Bill
Mazeroski, Ferguson Jenkins, John Tudor, Andre Dawson,
Vida Blue, George Foster, Dave Parker, Bob Forsch,
Danny Cox, Tom Lawless, Tommy John, Bob Turley, Hank
Bauer, and Moose Skowron.

I know there were walkups. The gate was open. Many
came in and went down in the playing area. I imagine
some did go upstairs. Rain stayed away during the
festivities. Batting practice, etc. was taking place.
It gives appreciation for the ability of professional
players. Probably most of the time about 10 people
were on the infield barely to the grass. They were
better than me. I didn't even go out there.

The night was just great! Thank you to the Memphis
Redbirds.
